How does Orlando's Cirque du Soliel compare with others?

Has anyone gone to the Cirque du Soliel show in Orlando, Downtown Disney? If so, what did you think? Have you seen any of the others and how did the Orlando one compare? Thanks

My husband and I saw this last year and loved it. I thought it was very good. We also went to see Drallion when it passed through Minneapolis a couple years ago, and liked that as well. The Orlando show was probably more polished (less mistakes) but they were both a fun time and I can't really say that I preferred one over the other - I thought they were both worth seeing.

Friends joined us in Las Vegas for both O and Mystere. They had already seen the Cirque du Soleil at Orlando and loved it, but they said the the two in Las Vegas really blew them away -- far better, especially O.

None of the Cirques can compare to "O" for wow factor simply due to the incredible engineering which went into constructing the set.
I've seen one of the travelling Cirques, Allegria, and must say that compared to "O" and Mystere, it was minor league caliber. Still enjoyable to be sure, but maybe half as much so.
Haven't been to Disney.
Thanks for the comments. We have seen Drallion. We were hoping the Orlando show would be even more spectacular - really from a technical aspect - lighting, set, etc. From what Jon says we would need to go to the Vegas "O" show for that!

vegas is much better. we saw mystere and were blown away, including our 5 year old.
thought he wouldn't sit thru it, but he was completeley entranced.
ad

if you're going to orlando, don't miss la nouba (especially now that tickets are discounted up to 20%). it was great (so was mystere). enjoy.

It took me several months to drag my husband to Cirque du Soleil's La Nouba at Disney, and then he was entranced throughout the show and I was bored after awhile! So how can you figure?

I have seen La Nouba and Allegria. I have to say the you will not be disappointed about going to Cirque du Soliel at Downtown Disney. It was magical. The ticket price might shy away some customers, but to me it was well worth it. The only bad part was the seats. The stadium seating is very crowded, like small movie theater seats almost, but there are so many seats in the theater. Don't worry too much about dress. I know that I dressed up moderately (like for a trendy night on the town), some people were more dressed up, but a majority was in casual clothing. Keep in mind that this is a tourist mecca. If you have a whole day to spend at DTD and the West Side, especially if you have kids, think about going to Disney Quest. It is right next door. I have ben several times. It is fun in a virtual reality way. I enjoyed La Nouba better than Allegria. Both share a range of outstanding stunts. My favorite is the trampoline floor. The "ring master" I suppose you call him was more charasmatic in La Nouba in my opinion.

Saw the show at Downtown Disney last year and all of us loved it, adults and kids alike. We all agreed it was a high point of the trip. If you are there on Sunday, don't miss House of Blues Sunday morning Gospel Brunch! Right in downtown disney also.

Ron - 20% discount on tickets? I didn't see any mention of that on the website. Any suggestion of how I find out about the discount?

ron Nov 29th, 2001 05:16 AM

Judy - tampa, st pete and orlando newspapers have been running 20% off ads for about a month. no coupon required. call their rez line and ask. good luck

I would highly recommend going to see the show in Downtown Disney. Saw Drallion when it passed through Chicago this year and thought Disney's much better. Drallion was good, but they are limited to what they can do because it is a traveling show. Disney's is permanent and is great.

I have searched many web sites, but still can't find a discount for the Cirque du Soleil tickets. I am going with a group of 20 in Jan, so a 20% discount would be quite something.

I don't recall seeing the ads KS, but I can read an entire newspaper and not be able to tell you one thing advertised, either! In one eye and out the other!

I just pulled Friday's paper (Tampa) out of the trash and went through the entire thing, page by page, including the entertainment section, where you would expect to find it. Nada. Same with today's paper. If this ever existed, I suspect it's gone now.

Disney has been hiring again, so my guess is that things are picking up over in Orlando.

Meant to say too, we just saw Mystere in Vegas and had already seen LaNouba in Orlando. I wouldn't say Mystere is any better than LaNouba (also a permanent show, not traveling). Wish we'd seen O...next time!
