How do you report someone breaking the rules?

To the fodors monitors out there. There is a guy using the "f" word and it sure would be nice if you had a place where we could contact you to report this.

They can be very quick at times and other times not so quick. This is one of those occasions where I hope an editor is standing by!

There are still quite a few posts out there that are obnoxious. Oh boy, school's out.........

missjanna Apr 6th, 2004 09:53 AM

It's not gone....some of his other posts calling attention to some regular fodorites and cursing them out are still showing.....but maybe Fodors is still working on it......

Good one, Patrick. When on either of the two websites, and I wish to reference the other, I usally state something like "the other travel website and publisher that starts with 'F'".

At the same time, I don't understand what the O.P. is so ef-ing upset about. I don't LIKE that profanity posted either, and it's the offending poster's ATTITUDE that I really don't care for ... but it would be a cold day in hell before I'd go "crying to the teacher" about others' legal (as opposed to complying with rules) actions ... I just skip over the ones I don't like.

I just emailed them about his post titled RYAN and asked that they stop him further posts. Maybe if enough of us protest they will eliminate the kid.

rb_travelerxATyahoo Apr 6th, 2004 10:13 AM

As in the case of the few who argue about San Fran vs San Jose, I choose to ignore, as I'm afraid that if Fodors (trying to run a company for profit) gets sick enough of all the complaints, they'll not eliminate the offending posts, but instead the FORUMS. I'd rather skip some threads I don't like than not have these forums available, but too often the majority gets hurt as a result of the actions of a few.

I'm the OP, and what I really objected to wasn't the swearing as much as he kept starting new thread after new thread so it was hard to enjoy this site.

Thnk you for the information...I too emailed fodors about the SJ guy...just couldn't take it anymore. Thank you!

I think this poster went way beyond the bounds. His language was offensive enough (although I don;t think any of us was about to faint from shock), but his attitude was a much bigger issue. However, what really bothered me was the death threat - that is nothing to fool around with - and really the authorities should be notified. (This is not "tattling" - who knows what someone that disturbed might do.)
