I hate to fly and have motion sickness, so 2 non-non-drowsy Dramamine pills knock me off and I sleep during all flights. Wake up always for all meals and drinks and snacks

Watch all the movies, even if they are terrible. It's a great way to pass a few hours. Sometimes, if the movie is REALLY AWFUL, it will bore you and put you to sleep! Have some wine first and you'll be extra drowsy.

I take my laptop and a couple of movies. I use Netflix and once I see the movie, I can just drop it in the mailbox at my destination.
Oh, I also invested in some Bose headphones... awesome!

If you happen to be flying on Continental, they have added video games including "hangman", "blackjack", "solitaire" etc. They do help pass the time but are not very sophisticated.

Drink, eat, sleep, read, play games, drink some more, eat some more.

On the way there I read my guide books, a novel, watch the movies. On the way back I sleep. I love to fly and the sound of a jet engine is like a lullaby. I stay awake for take off and then I am gone.

I bring a couple books and magazines and just read, sleep a little bit, and read some more. If there are movies I watch them too. The laptop/DVD idea is great. Also, if you don't have need the laptop and have some extra money, the cost of the portable DVD players has come down.

yeah I figured that suggestion would come up. With a groom that is pertrified to fly and a bride that pops pills to tolerate it (flying that is)I think its best we dont risk it. Someone could get hurt!
Thanks for the ideas. Maybe I will register for a portable DVD.

inmotionpictures.com has the listings of airports that have the DVD players for rent. You can check if any of your airports are there. They also have a headphone extension so both of you can watch a DVD at the same time. The only thing to remember is when you rent the player they will authorize your credit card for around $500 so be sure you use a different card then the one that has your hotel & car authorizations--it can take a while for the charge to roll off.

I read and watch the movies (sometimes the movies are actually good...like the time they showed Chicago), but mostly I sleep.

It might be hard to sleep though, with all the excitment of going to Hawaii. Have fun

This weekend we flew Sac to DC on Frontier. They had Direct TV acess for $5.00 Its not great alternative, but certainly better than a movie that is preselected.

I take prepasted labels and write the addresses of all the people I will be sending postcards to. That way I am not spending one extra minute in my hotel room that I do need to! Actually, before we had kids, my husband and I used to play cards. I know it sounds simple but a good game of rummy can make the time seem to go quicker.

There's a really silly card game called Fluxx. I played that back and forth from Maui. LOVED IT! I swear the flight only seemed about an hour long.

To jkurtiak:
Are you flying to Maui? I just flew in and out of there on a "day trip" from Oahu, (in a 737) and they said they always have turbulance landing in Maui, so just to let you know, it's a common occurance there. No turbulance that I can remember at Oahu though.

I take crossword puzzles and novels, and I watch the movies, but always TRY to get some sleep. I don't mind flying but have a difficult time sleeping on planes.

Why are you going to beautiful Hawaii if you must state "it better be worth it". Go somewhere else that requies a shorter flight. Obviously, you have no serious desire to see one of the most beautiful spots in the world. Do some reasearch and maybe save some money.
Everyone going to Hawaii knows that "it's worth it "- a hundred times over.

Don't forget to get up and walk around. Prevents bloodclots, which can kill you. This is a serious problem.

Last Xmas on a flight to Sydney, Australia, we watched "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" 4x. Make sure you have plenty of AA batteries for your Walkman.

Lately I've flown Southwest so the real challenge is passing time during the delayed departure!! I dont think I have ever flown SW that the return flight, always the return, wasn't delayed by at least an hour.

Once on the plane I usually read New Orleans magazine, Sports Illustrated and/or talk to the person next to me.
