How do you find good food while traveling?

I'm looking for websites that tell about interesting & tasty places to eat while on the road, or at a destination site. Who can help me out!!! Thanks.

Reading posts right here, I have found more fun, quirky, original eateries than in any travel book or website! I know you also recommend fine dining, etc., but I love to experience local 'flavor'.
Thanks!

If you can stomach this suggestion:

Rachel Ray [ I know, I know] suggests that you ask locals as they are the ones who deal with places on a regular basis. If you are to believe her, it kind of makes sense.

I live in a tourist destination, and I eat at places over and over again.

A tourist may only try a place once; love it or hate it, and never return.

I am not saying thanks folks on a board don't know beans about good food, but locals might just be source as well. IMHO of course..

Along those lines, cars in a parking lot - especially midday.

If the parking lot is full outside a nondescript eatery, ya know the food inside is good.

I've pulled quite a few Uturns in new places - and gone back to such a place and haven't been disappointed yet.

I agree with Starrs.. that is a pretty good indicator. Did that in Hilo and had an excellent meal.

Also, check out the chamber of commerce, tourist bureau for ideas.

Ask people as they exit a restaurant if they would go back again. Better than asking how was your meal, which they may just answer good.

Roadfood.com, and the local newspaper websites "best of" selections.
