How do I get to Ogunquit, ME from NYC

Hi all:

can someone PLEASE help me?? I need to get to Ogunquit, ME from NYC and have no idea how to get there other than the Train. the train option is definitely out as it takes waaaayyyy too long and I only have the weekend.

Is there an airport in Ogunquit? Or relatively close by?

Should I drive to Ogunquit or find a close airport and then take a taxi or rent a car from the Airport itself.

I would appreciate the help!!

Thank you,

Dianna

Fly to Portland Maine, rent a car, and then drive 45 minutes to Ogunquit. Might be a lot cheaper to fly to Boston, then you'd have a 75 min drive to Ogunquit.

Check fares from Newark as they might be cheaper. Also, check to make sure that rental cars are available on your dates before you book your airfare....Maine does get crowded in the summer!

You could also fly out of Manchester, N.H.

As for the train taking too much time, once you get to Boston, the train is probably as fast as a plane ride.

FYI if you decide to drive from NYC, it will take you 4 1/2 to 5 hours.

(Best route traffic-wise is to get to I-84 in CT, to the Mass Pike (I-90), to I-495 North, to I-95 North just south of the NH border; this way you miss the I-95 traffic along the CT coast and skirt the Boston suburbs...)

On the train you can leave Penn Station at 7am and be in Wells Ogunquit by 2pm. Getting to the airport, flying, renting a car.....would end up taking you longer and would be more expensive.

Wow..thanks so much!! This is the most information I have gotten since I started researching this 2 weeks ago!

Most appreciated...

I agree with ggreen, it will take you 4 1/2 to 5 hours if you drive.

If the train leaves at 7am and you get there at 2pm, that's 7 hours...which is not shorter, though you'd probably be more refreshed than if you drove for 5 hours. Also, with the cost of gas the way it is right now, the train is probably the least expensive (though I haven't checked out those prices).

A flight from NY to Portland, Maine is 80 minutes long, add to that 90 minutes prior at the airport in NY, additional time to get to the NY airport and the time you'll need to rent a car and drive to Ogunquit (45-60 minutes), it'll take at least 4 hours if you go by air.

We're talking either 4, 5, or 7 hours...only a 3 hour difference between the shortest and longest...not much. You might want to go with the least expensive if that matters to you.

Train is slow because you need a Boston South Station - North Station subway connection and board another train.
