how about these 2 New Orleans hotels?

I think I am narrowing it down.
Can anyone give a reason NOT to stay at Maison Dupuy or International House?
Or any praise for either?
We're looking for someplace that will be special and unique as well. Both are virtually about the same $ according to my research.
Any HELP is great. I need to reserve in the next day or so.
Thanks

seriously consider the iberville suites, co owned by the ritz carlton in the old maison blance department store on canal st. at the quarter. only open since feb 2001, this is an upscale property offering 1 bedroom suites very well decorated and spanking new for $99 with full breakfast in beautiful lobby..
normal rack rate will be $275, but this is best kept secret in hotel values in n.o. just now--stayed there last week and highly recommend. book through quikbook site--best hotel reservation service on web--this is great advice for you . . . jack mccarty

As a local, I have not stayed at either place, but.... I'd go with the Maison Dupuy because it's in the Quarter. The International House is not far from the Quarter, and, while I think it's an interesting place (and one whose bar and restaurant I frequent), I don't think it is in any way special as far as New Orleans goes. It's atmosphere or character is in direct conflict with all that New Orleans is. I've heard many good things about Maison Dupuy and think it's a wonderful location. Please let me know if you need more info.

Been to New Orleans several times - my favorite is the Royal Orleans. Great hotel and perfect location in the Quarter. Enjoy!

Make sure to ask what kind of room you will be getting.

From what I understand, their deluxe rooms are great -- very nice and luxurious -- but the "regular" rooms are cramped and dark. I haven't stayed at the Maison Dupuy but I did have a reservation there. We were booked for a regular room and when I asked reception about the room I would be getting, she told me it was small, on street level, with no windows at all.

Just be sure to ask. I personally NEED a window in my room.
The maison duput is a great place to stay in new orleans. i was there this past mardi gras and loved it. The staff is totally helpful, the location is great and the restaurant downstairs has one of the best breakfasts i have ever eaten. They also have a hottub and heated pool which i adored. Try to get a view of the courtyard because it is beautiful. Have fun!!! Stacey
