How about the Argonaut, San Francisco?
 

I hadn't considered staying around Fisherman's Wharf (in late September, four days, no car) but am wondering if the Argonaut Hotel might be worth a shot for the views. Any negative or positive comments would be appreciated, even if it's just an impression of the outside of the building. Would the area likely be noisy or quiet?

I just returned from a stay at the Argonaut. I wasn't aware that it had just opened when I arrived for checkin...I think it opened three days prior to my arrival. What a great find at Fisherman's Wharf! It's an upscale, very cool, very trendy yet comfortable place to stay. And each night they have a wine hour which is a wonderful way to see other guests and mingle with some of the staff..they even have luxury liner deck chair/lounges to recline on while drinking the wine. The room was great....you feel like you are on a cruise -- be sure to ask for a room with a view of the bay. I never would have expected this type of hotel at the wharf but it's perfect for someone who wants to enjoy perfect luxury and be close enough to major tourist attractions. I think even a business traveler would love it since the room offers high speed internet access for free and is well designed for someone who has work to do but then wants to only step out the door to enjoy SF! I'd highly recommend it.

We walked by 2 weeks ago but forgot to take a peek in and see what it's like. Any noise problem?

no noise problem whatsoever...they have double pained glass windows that keep it very nice in the room...

Thanks, jsh0323. We have booked a bay view room and requested a view of the Golden Gate Bridge, thinking it would be nice to see at night. Having seen the building, do you have any thoughts on whether the Alcatraz-view side would be better?

When you say high speed internet access, do you mean with your own laptop or do they have computers available?

Any idea where the closet place would be to get photos downloaded to a CD from a digital camera memory card?

April, I bet if you go for the Alcatraz view you'd probably get the GGate Bridge too! Excelllllllent!
Breakfast at the Buena Vista cafe is pretty nice if you get there early enough to get a window seat.

April: FYI the Golden Gate Bridge is not highly illuminated at night. There is some lighting on the towers and that is it so don't expect to see it all outlined in lights. Very glorious sight during the day however.
