How about some Dupont Circle restaurant advice ?

Next week, I will be in DC with older parents, staying in the Dupont Circle area. Would LOVE some recommendations for breakfast, brunch and dinner that are within easy walking distance ~ or a short cab ride away. Suggestions for Italian, Asian and vegetarian places would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Breakfast - If you want an old fashioned, hearty breakfast, you are probably stuck with some place like Trio on 17th Street or going to the Diner in Adams Morgan (probably a cab ride since it is uphill from DuPont). Try Firehook or Teaism (if you can tolerate the attitude at Teaism) for breakfast. Or Starbucks/Cosi.

Brunch - Lots of places will have brunch since outside dining is a DC favorite. I like Logan Tavern for brunch (14th and P) and Kramerbooks right on the Circle is famous for brunch. LeVantes south of the Circle has a good brunch and so does DuPont Grille.

Dinner - There really isn't great Italian in DC. But Asian is everywhere, especially Thai. Thaiphoon at Connecticut and S is my favorite Thai place. City LIghts of China is doable Chinese. Pizza Paradiso is good pizza. All would have vegetarian.

We had an excellent Italian meal at Al Tiramisu http://www.altiramisu.com/ Wonderful food, great wine list, excellent service with Italian waiters. Located just off the Circle on P St.

Siroc 915 15th Street on McPherson Sq, 10 min walk from Dupont Circle Mediterranen/Italian. It crept onto Washingtonian's best 100 area restaurants this year. I love this place.

Not sure if this is too late, but for Asian you might try Raku, right by the north end of the circle, and for sushi you could try sushi taro over on 17th st.

for brunch I would go for Tabard Inn over Kramerbooks (the latter is much better as a bookstore than a restaurant).

for vegetarian, there is a Maoz felafel on M st. south of the circle.

Dino is a good Italian place an easy metro ride away (2 stops, no transfer, steps from the stop).

If you like Asian, you are going to be disappointed with Raku. But there's a lot of good Thai in that neighborhood.
