Houston, TX advice please

Hubby (who hates to travel solo, has to go solo to Houston for a seminar. After some research, I think he will be in the Musuem district-near Arlington National Cancer Center & Rice University. Any suggestions for restaurants for dinner or early evening free time? He is a big sports fan, but the Rockets are not playing when he will be there. Any minor league teams (hockey?). Any nice shopping areas or malls? Pen stores? Thanks for your advice.

You should discourage your husband from going to the seminar if he has asthma or other respiratory problems. Houston is the most polluted city in the U.S.

When you get here get a phone book and go to eat at your choice of world famous restaurants, sea food, papadaux , landrys. Mexican food, ninfas, papsitos. You are staying in a great area for shops, visit Westheimer street between shephard and montrose street, very close to your area. Also visit the Village area also very close to all the above, off montrose street take times blvd. or rice blvd. go west and you cant miss the shops. the entire area to the west of where you are staying has many shops, and homes turned into shops, also there are many restaurants in these areas some of the ones i listed.Dont dispare the weather is usually very nice this time of year, and like any big city has its share of polution. But hey over 50% of all the gasoline is produced withing 200 miles of houston for the U.S.And the aeros hockey team are playing this time of year. In closing e-mail me if you need further info. Note if you have time about 50 minutes from where you are is an area called ( Kema- as mall town ) where their are 7 great seafood restaurants and a board walk, and some great shops, everyone knows where it is and can give you directions. nick from (heavenly houston )

Thanks Nick for your suggesions. I will pass them on to my husband. Warmer weather will be a nice change-its about zero degrees right now, without factoring in the wind chill.
