Houston--Local Fare

Cincy has Chili..Chicago hot dogs. I will be in Houston and wanted to know of some good places to eat the local favorites, if there are any. Maybe a late lunch or early dinner on my way to the Bush airport from teh Galleria area.

Goode BBQ--not sure if it is in your 'flight path', tho.

Barbecue is a good suggestion. Best place in town is almost certainly Goode Co. They have locations on Kirby (near Rice Univ.) and on I-10 on the west side, about midway between the 610 loop and the Sam Houston Tollway (beltway 8).

Tex-Mex is always a good option too. I favor Irma's downtown.

There's some good cajun places too -- my favorite being Ragin' Cajun on Richmond, not too far from the Galleria area.

Hmm...haven't even mentioned the steaks...too much good food around Houston to contemplate!

Bon apetit!

Thanks for the lead on Goode Co. I ate there friday night and for lunch on saturday. It was awesome. That brisket is the the best and I brought home a pecan pie. MMMM!

I used to live in Houston and now am in the east. There is NO BBQ up here at all. When I go to Houston I always stop at the BBQ place in the Continental concourse and get several pounds of the sliced brisket w/sauce, and I bring it home on the plane. It isn't as good as Goode Co. but it is sure good when I get home.
