Radisson is okay if you need to be in that area, i.e., near the Astrodome.
You are going to need a car. The location is accessible to major freeways. No public transportation. Rail doesn't begin until 2004.
Pappasitos, a local mexican chain with good fajitas, and Pappadeaux's, local seafood chain. Captain Benny's for oysters on the half shell. Trevisio in the Medical Center is supposed to be excellent.
What types of food are you looking for and what is your budget?

Thank you for the hotel/transportation answers. (as well as the restaurant recommendations) Mainly, I was looking for good Mexican or Italian restaurants. Budget about $20/person. So I am open to trying Pappasitos. Also how far away from the Astrodome or Raddison is the Medical Center? Thank you again for your answers.

medical center is next door to the astrodome complex. not easily walkable, but one can see the hospitals from the radisson. you pretty much need a car to get anywhere in houston, even around the medical center itself. other, safer lodging on the museum side of the medical center, but pricier.
