Cheap plug for my favorite shopping that will be taking place around the same time.

The Nutcracker Market is going from November 8 - 11 at the Reliant Center. There are some fantastic finds and a percentage of the sale goes to support the Houston Ballet.

Bumping this up again.

I think we have:

moneygirl (from CA)
TXTravelPro (from Dallas)
cwn
dfr4848
moldyhotelsaregross
MSheinberg
rkkwan

I kind of like the Raven Grill. And they do take reservations for 6 or more. Prices seem quite reasonable with a varied menu:

www.theravengrill.com/reservations.html

If there's no objection, I'll make a reservations in a few days. It'll be great if you all can confirm how money of you will be coming, either posting in any of these threads (US, Asia, Europe and Lounge forums), or email to me at "rkkwan at earthlink dot net".

See you all soon!

The Raven Grill looks like a fun new place to try. I'll certainly be there.

Does anyone have a favorite entree to suggest?

Moldyhotelsaregross:

Would love more details about the Nutcracker Market... didn't see a link form the " Houston arts website" I was perusing last week. Hmmm. What kinds of things do they have for sale?

rkkwan: I bumped this on the lounge a bit earlier... hope it helps!

Re: Nutcracker Market

You will find almost anything a woman wants to buy and few things a man wants to carry! lol

I go there to buy jewelry, clothes, Christmas items, housewares, gifts, hostess gifts, and all sorts of yummies. According to the website, there are more than 300 merchant but by the end of the day, it will feel like you've shopped at over a thousand!

A few of my food favorites are Company's Comin' for homemade soups, Susie's South 40 for frozen toffee (too good) and Cherry Republic.

The name is escaping me, but there is a jeweler from the Hill Country with great prices on silver jewelry.

Everyone I know has a different "must visit" vendor.

For me, I like to find the eccentric artists with unusual jewelry.

Raven looks AWESOME! The menu has so many things I want to try!
I think I will start with the Tuna Carpaccio and then get the Black Pepper Steak Salad.
Man, that sounds great!

Bumping this again. Please reply or email me at "rkkwan at earthlink dot net" if you want to join us. We should have about 8 people. I'll call to make reservations this afternoon.

And if I've listed you and you can't come, please also let me know.

Thanks!

I'll post again for more info after I call the restaurant.

Bumping to the top!

For some reason, when I put Houston in the search to try to find this thread... it doesn't pop up. Hope we have the e mail addresses we need so rkkwan can find everyone!

Reservations has been made at the Raven Grill at 6:30pm for 8 people, Sunday night 11/4.

Raven Grill
1916 Bissonnet
Houston, TX 77005
(713)521-2027
www.theravengrill.com

Reservations is made under "Fodors" and/or "Raymond".

Please confirm with me again if you haven't done so in the last few days, or if you want to join us, but hasn't posted or notified me before, please let me know again. I can also provide my cell phone if you email me:

"rkkwan at earthlink dot net"

I can also come pick you up if you let me know ahead!

Raven Grill is just off the "Rice Village" area on Bissonnet. From Downtown or Mid-town, just take Main Street to Bissonnet (where the Museum of Fine Arts), then go west past Dunlavy.

If you're taking SW Freeway, take the Shepherd/Greenbriar exit, go south on Greenbriar to 1st traffic light, which is Bissonnet. Turn left and go east a couple of blocks.

Again, email me if you have any question.

See you all!
