Our August 2002 stay at the HOB hotel was pleasant. The decor was very ornate and busy, but fun, and lent a festive atmosphere. We didn't spend time there, but the bar area looked like it might be fun at night (sort of like a "casbah"). We were there for a concert at the House of Blues next door, that's why we chose that location (a long way from the center of the action on the Miracle Mile.) It depends on where you are going to center your activities.

Thanks, Maggi! It's actually my sister-in-law who will be staying there, as part of a package that includes a Notre Dame football game and bus transpo to South Bend. So she won't be in the hotel much, but I bet she'll be disappointed that it's far from the Miracle Mile. Oh well--thanks again for the info!

E, don't worry too much about it being far away. It's within walking distance, although several blocks. We stayed at a hotel on the Magnificent Mile and strolled over to the House of Blues hotel to take a look at it. It's a great looking hotel, very over the top. It should be great fun staying there!

Great news, dln! I've been to Chicago many times, but always for work and always by myself, so apart from a few dinners with clients, I haven't seen a thing, just been tantalized to death! And my sis-in-law is in the same boat, so I'm glad she'll finally get to enjoy Chicago. Thanks again.

Bin 36 also has a great breakfast menu....if you can't make it there at any other time.

Cool place, nice place to shop or browse for wine and accessories...especially for wine novices.

Enjoy.
