Hotwire question: certain hotel **star
I've used Hotwire once before and was very lucky. Was able to get a great rate for Dallas Palomar Hotel 4*. Because SPA was listed as one of the amenities, I was pretty certain this was the hotel I wanted.
Now I am trying to book for Valentine's Day weekend in the Dallas Park Cities area. I'd like to book the Radisson Central Dallas, but not certain it's even an option. My question is: is there a way to be certain to get particular hotel on Hotwire? |
No way to be CERTAIN, but you can sometimes guess which hotel it is or at least narrow things down from the amenities listed.
Try www.betterbidding.com . |
Thank you Andrew. I've looked at betterbidding but can't seem to find the information I'm looking for. Seems difficult to navigate site??? thoughts?
|
as many have said
if you REALLY want a particular hotel neither priceline nor hotwire is foolproof www.biddingfortravel.com is a little more organized but not always updated in terms of seeing other bids. But there are no guarantees - I have booked priceline when there were only 2 hotels ever reported in a particular location and wound up with a 3rd. Sometimes hotels are undergoing renovation, or the area is being renovated and there will be short term priceline or hotwire deals that only appear for a short time so they are never reported. |
Biddingfortravel does not have any Hotwire information, only Priceline.

I don't know what it is you're asking. These are the hotels listed on betterbidding for Dallas Park Cities area Dallas (Park Cities) 4* Hotel Palomar Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa 3.5* Radisson Hotel Central Dallas (previously 3*) Amenities: Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business (same as Doubletree) 3* Doubletree Campbell Center (previously 3.5*) Amenities: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business (same as Radisson) |
Mclaurie,
THATS the information I was looking for. How did you find it? Sorry to sound so ignorant, i can usually figure things out, but having trouble today!!! yikes! |
Mclaurie,
One more question, do you think if I bid on the 3.5* I would most likely get the Radisson? |
FYI, HOtel Palomar has a great deal via Travelzoo - $129/n for your dates.
http://hotels.travelzoo.com/lodging-hotels/521262 There are a couple other deals on Travelzoo for Dallas ($69/n at Sheraton all-suite Market Center, and $95/n at Fairmont Dallas). |
BTW, did you read the recent reviews on Radisson Central Dallas on tripadvisor?

katiekate, I know next to nothing about Dallas. I just know how to read/navigate the betterbidding website. I know that it's possible that hotels get upgraded or downgraded all the time. Btw, you don't "bid" on Hotwire. You select a hotel that's in a certain area at a certain star level. If there's a hotel listed that's a 3.5* that has amenity icons for Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business--it's likely the Radisson. It's also possible it's some other hotel. According to this, the Doubletree used to be 3.5* but the icons don't look like they match to me.
To find this list on betterbidding scroll down the page to Texas, then click Hotwire Texas, then click Hotwire Hotel list Texas at the top of that page. |
Well, i took a gamble at $53 for what I thought was a 3.5* and got the Doubletree. Certainly not a bad hotel, just not the perfect location for me. Really needed the Radisson because of college commitment for daughter. You are right though, the ratings change all the time. Supposedly the Doubletree was a 3* on betterbidding.... go figure. At least, it isn't a huge $$$ mistake. Guess one really needs to closely examine the amenities codes. Thanks for all your help.

katiekate- it would be great if you could post your hotwire results on betterbidding. It will help the next person using it.

I would be so happy to but I am having trouble posting on their site. I'm registered, but have never posted. In fact, today I emailed their administrator asking for help.
I'll post it as soon as I can. |
