HOTWIRE INFORMATION
 

Has anyone used Hotwire recently to rent a car? I've never used them before and right now, they are much cheaper than anyone else. Can you specify the size of the car, i.e. mid-size and actually get it? I'm wondering, other than the fact that you don't know the make of the car, if there are any other surprises. I want to pick this car up at a specific airport on a specific day and return on a specific day...what's the catch on Hotwire, or isn't there any??

I rented a sedan on Hotwire for PHL at $19 and got upgraded to an SUV.

You enter your drop off and pick up time on hotwire and they are pretty strict.

No catch. We've used Hotwire to rent a car several times with nary a glitch. Plan to use them again to rent over Thanksgiving.

Basically you get the lower rate for two things:

- Don't know exact renter, whether it's Avis, Budget or Hertz (they only use these three);

- You prepaid right now and no refund.
