Hotels with suites in Portland
 

We will be staying with family in Bend first week of July, then on to Portland for 2 nights. There will be 4 adults & a 2 year old. I'm looking for a suite with either a great pull out (unfortunately haven't come across one yet in my travels

Sorry - just sent my unfinished post by mistake. To finish up, we're looking for a reasonably priced 2 bedroom suite in or around the Portland area. We'll be driving from the Columbia River waterfall route & could stay along there the first night. Or not! Just looking for suggestions please. Thank you!

Take a look at the Monaco. It is a Kimpton hotel, so very nice. Even though we live here, we stay overnight in downtown for special events and this is our go-to hotel. Almost all the rooms are suites, but be sure to ask for one due to the size of your group. The suites have the beds in one area separated by fabric covered glass sliding dividers, and the rest of the room is a sitting area with a couch (not sure if is a sleeper, so again, ask) and tv, armoir, etc and then the bathrooms are very large.

The Symphony Suites at the Heathman are teeny tiny and would not work for your size group, FWIW.

You might also look at the Embassy Suites. Those are usually really good for families. I have not stayed at this one, but it has a good reputation.

I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Portland last year and was very happy.

There is also the Residence Inn Riverplace - walking distance to the waterfront restaurants and shopping. Have stayed there and thought it was nice.

If you book through Travel Portland you will get free parking, continental breakfast and a coupon book for Portland shopping.

Have stayed at the Monaco as well and always enjoy- more centrally located in the downtown area. Not sure if you can book through Travel Portland but I would check. Last time I stayed there I thought parking in their garage was very expensive and ended up parking in a garage a couple of blocks away for much less

There is an Embassy Suites less than half a mile from the entrance of PDX. If you do stay in downtown Portland remember that the TriMet Red line goes from downtown to the airport. The last stop is right outside baggage claim.
I'll be in Bend sometime on July 1 if you want to have a small GTG.

Definitely the Embassy Suites in downtown vs the one near the airport, hands down!

If by "reasonably priced" you mean less that $200 a day, that will be hard to find in downtown Portland.

If you consider Vancouver WA to be in the "Portland area," you can get a reasonably priced suite at the Residence Inn or Staybridge Suite there.

At Staybridge Suites, for instance, the two-bedroom suite is $167 per night the week of July 8.

Breakfast is included at both properties.

I can't find where MarthaV mentioned $200 a night or if that is just a guess.

I'd rather stay by the Airport and take MAX than stay in Vancouver. Or check the Rose Quarter.

Please take this with a grain of salt because I have not been to Portland so have not stayed here, but my husband and I are booked into the following hotel for 2 nights in July. It came highly recommended by friends of ours, and we're hoping for good things. It was under $200.00 a night, but is not downtown.

Northrup Station is located in a pleasant neighborhood with good restaurants and shopping nearby. The pleasant walk from there to downtown is through the Pearl District. The hotel used to give out free passes for the trolley.

The "suites" we stayed in were one big room. We never had a suite there with a bedroom separate from the main room.

We got tired of the flashy decor, but perhaps they have toned it down. On one occasion we could hear next door neighbors too clearly, and on another visit we were awakened by drunks in the hall at about 3:00 a.m. After that we learned the quieter rooms are upstairs and far from the end where the main entrance is located.
