Hotels walking distance to Miami Beach Convention Center

dear Fodor's friends~ Need to find a reasonably priced hotel for a work trip, near to Miami Beach Convention Center at 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami 33139. The recommended conference hotels start at $165. Anything cheaper nearby? Doesn't need ammenities (like pool). Thanks in advance for any leads or ideas.
kindly, Suze

These places are usually less expensive and within easy walking distance:

Albion (closest)
Townhouse
Sagamore
Surfcomber
Royal Palm

Thanks for the help. Albio's sold out. I'll check the others. Much appreciated!

A few I've come up with showing availability and lower price range are: Greenview, Dorchester, Marseilles, and Aqua Hotel & Lounge. Comments?

Oops, all the rest are "sold out" too, at lesat according to their websites (also are all more expensive then the budget of under $165).

But thanks again to SoBchBud & anyone else reading here!

I've stayed at the Marseilles twice. I like it, it's not fancy but it's in a great location and has a very good happy hour. Miami Beach is expensive, $165 is a pretty good price for hotels, anything really cheap will likely be somewhere you don't want to stay. That said, depending on when you're going, the Marseilles might run as low as $125ish.

Thanksvery much wyatt92. I think Marseilles & the sister hotel Dorchester both look great. This research is not for myself (my job for a co-worker business trip) so the budget is not mine to set. But I agree the ones I've found in the under $120 range have some pretty scary reviews over at Trip Advisor.

Thanks all!
