hotels--tempurpedic mattress
 

Has anyone stayed at a hotel that has a tempurpedic mattress? Please reply.

I assume you mean the Sweedish foam type? We stayed at a hotel that had one
several years ago. We liked it so much, we went out and bought one - they really are extremly comfortable!

We own one. Best decision we ever made! Which hotel offers them?

The Hyatt Regency on Wacker Drive in Chicago offers them, but I was unable to upgrade to that type of room when I stayed there.

This is an odd question though - want to give a little more info on what you're really after?

I am assuming you want to know if there will be some sort of *adjustment* to sleeping on this type of mattress if you are not accustom to it. For me, the answer was yes. It is very different from the typical mattress but it only took me about two weeks and I was sold (but I also had a back issue going on). My husband liked it more immediately.

Gaileyann, that may not be your experience and you may sleep soundly the very first night. Is that the only type of mattress the hotel offers?

Obviously it depends on your body weight/type, what position(s) you sleep in etc, but we also bought the hype over Tempur-Pedic and just finished a two-year ordeal with it (and half a dozen other foam sleep systems).

Our final conclusion: they stink.

Forget the fact foam doesn't breathe (so they're hot as hell in summer and/or warm climates), and forget the fact visco foam outgasses all kinds of nasty chemicals (which caused us almost nightly headaches), the simple fact is we were never able to get proper hip and shoulder support on an all-foam system. All of them including Tempur-Pedic felt like we were sleeping on a marshmallow, and after a few weeks we started developing severe neck, shoulder and back pains. We tried Tempur-Pedic, and also custom made systems from Sensus, Resilitex, Omalon and Carpenter.

Finally, after two years of agony we went out and bought a traditional Stearns & Foster coil spring mattress set, and within two weeks all of our body aches had disappeared. We also no longer got headaches and we able to sleep all the way through the night.

The point is not to say those who love Tempur-Pedics are wrong, it's just to illustrate that not everyone has had good experiences with them.
