Hotels on Sunset Blvd - West Hollywood

I'm coming to LA next April and want to stay in a good hotel close to all the nightlife on Sunset Boulevard. Any advice on which hotel to choose?

Paul,

My absolute favorite hotel on Sunset Is The Argyle (www.argylehotel.com). Great historic art-deco structure that has catered to some of the biggest names in Hollywood over the years. Great staff, great restaurant (Fenix) and great people watching. The rooms are all suites (a bit smaller than traditional suites but very well equipped and extremely comfortable) and the views of L.A. are outstanding.

My second and third choices would be the Sofitel (right off of Sunset) and the Le Montrose (again, right off of Sunset). The Sofitel is French with good food and rooms that offer views of the Hollywood hills, while the Le Montrose is allsuites and features a rooftop saltwater pool.

I believe you can check them all out at Fodors but definitely check out The Argyle's web site.

Have fun!

Davidcs

Has anyone tried the Grafton Hotel on Sunset? Can get a rate of $129 per night.

The Standard is also right on Sunset (hip). The Sunset Marquis is just below Sunset on Alta Loma. The Grafton is another hip hotel. Haven't stayed there because I live in LA. Other choices are The Chateau Marmont, The Hyatt on Sunset and The Bel Age.

Grafton is a nice place. The decor is real cool and all. It's in a great location. The Bel Age is also real nice. The rooms are all suites with wet bars and are really huge. They have a real nice roof top pool.

I just love the Elan, Hotel Modern which is at Beverly Blvd and LaCienega.
Great location, great boutique amenities, close to everything and VERY cheap!!!
I saw several "semi" famous people there during my stay. It's quiet, no bar or restaurant and only 50 or so rooms. Good b'fast in the lobby each morning, if you get up early enough... I never did.
Check it out:
ELAN HOTEL MODERN
8435 BEVERLY BLVD
LOS ANGELES CA 90048
323-658-6663
They probably have a website, too.
