Hotels near USC Medical School campus
Hi,
Does anyone know of any decent hotels near the USC Medical School campus (this is north of the regular USC campus.) The closest OK-looking ones seem to be in the Chinatown area near Dodger's Stadium. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of this area?
Thanks,
Patti

Little Tokyo is OK, safe during the daytime but a bit isolated - as all the downtown area is - at night.
The hotels you've listed are OK also, but nothing really to write home about.
tracy has asked a good question. Will you have a car?
There are better hotels west of Little Tokyo, like the Omni and the Westin Bonaventure.
Because it is so huge, you can usually get a very good rate on the Westin on Priceline (somewhere around $65-$75/night plus fees and taxes).
If you haven't used Priceline before, come back and ask. Lots of helpful Fodorites can give you tips.

Hi,
Not sure yet whether we'll have a car (going to a work-related event there.) Either that or we'll take a taxi every day (these two are about 3 miles away.) I'll look at the Omni and Bonaventure. Thanks.

The Westin is a very nice hotel.
If you're budget conscious, do the Priceline thing. It's a really good deal.
Parking in the Westin is about $30 a night, so if you don't need a car, you're probably better off. It also has airport shuttle, although we've never used it.
