Hotels near Orlando's Royal Pacific Resort?
I'll be at a trade show in mid January. Show is being held at the Royal Pacific Resort but even at the "group discount", the rate of $199 won't fit my budget. "Group" suggested Hard Rock ($194) and Portofino Bay ($235); neither fit. I'll have a car but don't want to drive a long distance back & forth. Any suggestions on nearby hotels in the $125-150 range? I don't need fast-passes to the parks as this is an all-work, no-play trip. Thanks for the help!

There are a gazillion within a mile on International Drive. Exaggerating on the gazillion, but it feels like it sometime.
I usually stay at the Homewood Suites there (just like the property and dealing with the staff) but take your pick among virtually every chain...Hampton Inn, AmeriSuites, Comfort Inn, etc.

Mikesmom, Orlando is one of the top convention cities in the US and the new convention center is just down the street. Conventions and conferences take place every week of the year - and the business segment of the travel market rarely intersects the family leisure segment.
In other words, you won't notice a thing.

Starrsville:
I'm concerned about the Builders' Convention which is scheduled while we are in Orlando. I understand they are expecting approximately 120,000 attendees for this convention. I'm sure this will have an affect on traffic, restaurants, etc. I wasn't aware of this convention when I booked our trip many months ago. We've even considering cancelling, but I guess we'll just hope for the best.

I'll let you know when I return whether or not we were aware of 120,000 people in Orlando. We've been to WDW and Universal many, many times, so I will have a frame of reference.
I hope you are right!!!

The show I'm working is a Hilton hotel owners group show, Jan. 17-18. Everything is IN the Royal Pacific Resort, so staying there would be super convenient, but wow, $199 is pretty steep compared to other convention-heavy cities. I just paid $156 for the Wash DC Marriott Metro Center last week and that's more in line with the budget.

I just got this from another site. You might want to check the Royal Pacific again with this info:
"new room rate using code: Winter WonderLOEWS Booked it immediately. This rate is lower than annual passholder and AAA."
