Hotels Near Barnes Foundation

Hi to All,

A friend and I are planning an overnight in Philadelphia either before or after a trip to the Barnes Foundation (depending on when we get our reservations). So far, I have found these hotels names that fall into our budgets should we get our own rooms. Any feedback would be appreciated. We will be traveling to and from the train from Baltimore. Thanks as always.

Windsor Suites
Logan Philadelphia, Curio
Aloft Philadelphia Downtown
Holiday Inn Express Midtown

Should we double up, the Roost Rittenhouse

This isn't showing on the 'new posts' list so I am topping here and have posted in the Lounge as well.

Hi TDu, Windsor Suites and Logan Philadelphia are very close to the Barnes. They are right on the parkway and the immediate neighborhood is full of museums and office buildings. Philly is small though and it is a quick walk or ride over to the Rittenhouse Square area. Aloft looks like a nice new hotel. It is very close to Reading Terminal Market but still convenient to the Barnes; however, I think that neighborhood is a little grittier and wouldn't be my first choice for two women with one night in the city. The Holiday Inn Midtown (13th and Walnut) puts you right in the heart of the city - shopping, restaurants etc. but again, if you are more prone to stay out of the fray of city life with all of the crowds and noise, you might be happier over on the parkway.

The thread wasn't moved. It has always been right here :)

Apparently a different/newer thread was started in the Lounge.

Twice I have stayed at The Alexander Hotel at 12th & Spruce. I felt very safe walking to and from the hotel at night. It was also very affordable.

Thanks, All.

The only hotel on your list that I've stayed in is the Logan when it was the Four Seasons. The rooms were large and I assume that hasn't changed. I echo what Suki said about location. If you can find a hotel within your budget south of Market St, I'd choose it because of the proximity to restaurants. I know Phila pretty well and I'm comfortable walking at night but if I were new to the city, I'd feel safer walking across Market St during the day to get to the museum rather than at night to get to restaurants.

Thanks again for all the good info.

The first thread WAS posted in the US but wasn't showing up on the 'new posts' list. Upon querying (and copying the post to the Lounge), moderators informed that my posts wouldn't show on the 'new posts' list. They then deleted the Lounge thread. Thanks for topping, suze.

>>They then deleted the Lounge thread.<<

Just an FYI -- the other thread was not deleted. It is still in the Lounge -- but they locked it after directing others to post here.
