hotels/motels in charleston,s.c.
 

we are looking for motel accommodations in charleston conveniently located to historic district and in the price range of $75-85. any suggestions would be appreciated. also, someone mentioned the ramada inn on montague st. anyone have knowledge of this motel? tks.

Go for the Hampton Inn in the historic district, right across from the Visitor's Center where you can catch the free shuttle to everything all day and evening. It's really nice with a free breakfast, swimming pool, etc., and especially if you have a AAA or AARP discount, it should be in your price range. It's won several awards for being the top Hampton Inn in the US. Be sure to splurge at Magnolia's Uptown for dinner!

I enjoyed the Meeting St Inn. It's a little over your budget but includes continental breakfast and wine & cheese in the afternoon. It has wonderful rooms and a huge 20 person hot tub. They also have lemonade and tea on the go anytime. It's right across from the market and is a superb spot to take a walk. Right in the historic district.

I reserved through priceline.com for next weekend which is Spoleto festival in Charleston for our visiting in-laws. We got two King rooms at the Radisson which is on the Ashley River in the historic district for $159. Each room was $69 plus tax. Good luck!

I stayed at the Days Inn which is smack in the middle of everything. A big advantage is the free parking for your car and you can walk to everything. It may be at the upper end of your cost range. I know that very cheap accomodations can be had in Mt. Pleasant which is about 15 min. ride into Charleston. It will probably then cost about $10/day to park the car while you visit in the city. <BR>Ellen

I got the Holiday Inn Historic District on Calhoun St. for $85. It was nice and clean and about a few blocks to the visitors center. The Hampton Inn mentioned by Lani is a little closer and has the breakfast if it is available. It was sold out when we were there.

Shelley, that Radisson has a Super Saver rate on their website of $99 for next weekend (and other rates less than what you posted). That $99 rate is available most weekends. If you plan to use Priceline again, you may want to visit the forum I host (mentioned above)for bidding tips.
