Hotels in Williamsburg

We are 2 adults contemplating a 2 night stay in Williamsburg. Any suggestions on centrally located hotels near the old section that would be not to expensive (125 max per night). Open to dining suggestions also. Thanks for the help.

I tried everything I could think of to find a cheap hotel that was decent. Even Priceline.com couldn't give me anything!

We stayed at the Travelodge. It was $45 per night. It was clean, smoke free, and fairly close to the park. It was not within walking distance, but there was plenty of free parking, so that wasn't a problem.

My husband and I stayed at Colonial Capital Bed and Breakfast last summer for our 1st year anniversary. It's within 2 blocks of colonial Williamsburg. The owners were incredibly friendly, breakfast was good, and the rooms were quite clean and comfortable (and I am VERY picky). They have a very helpful web site, www.ccbb.com. It's $20 a night over your max, but the little splurge is WELL worth it, plus admission into colonial Williamsburg and other attractions are included with the room.

Also, for a lovely dining experience, The Trellis, at the beginning of colonial Williamsburg is wonderful.

Don't miss Jamestown! We enjoyed that just as much, if not more, than Williamsburg. The Williamsburg area is a great mini-vacation. We were there 3 full days, and felt as though we were able to see most of the major attractions, including a 1/2 tour of the Williamsburg winery (price included with the room), without rushing through.

Have fun!

Try the Williamsburg Woodlands. I have reservations there for $ 125/nt in August including breakfast. It is part of the Williamsburg organization and is within walking distance to the historic district. We requested a room in the new building which should now be open so it is brand new. Also try the Williamsburg Hospitality house. I think it was around $100 and also included breakfast. It is also very close to the Historic District. If you try usahotelguide.com and hoteldiscount.com you'll find LOTS of Hotels in Williamsburg for less than $ 125/night. Try it.

What about hotels close to Busch Gardens? Don't need anything elaborate. Can you walk there from any hotels?

There are three hotels near Busch Gardens. The Marriott, the Courtyard by Marriott, and The Quality Inn at Kingsmill. They are only about a mile from Busch but there really isn't a good entrance at Busch to walk into. Its set up for cars. You can call visitor relations at Busch and ask them. There is an inexpensive shuttle called Relax & Ride but I don't know how often it runs. The hotels should know. Another hotel close to the historic area is the Quality Inn Colony. Some good restaurants are: Giuseppes, Doraldos, and Carmellas for Italian, Casa Maya for Mexican, Shakelfords and Sportsmens Grill, and Cities Grill and Rivers Inn (Gloucester)
