Hotels in San Francisco for Families
Hi all,
Looking for suggestions for a moderately priced, family-friendly hotel in San Francisco for two adults and an 11 year old. We will have a rental car but still prefer to be as close to attractions as possible. We have some allergies so are trying to avoid hotels that tout being pet-friendly. We'd love a pool, but not a must. We've looked at a bunch but would love recs from locals and/or folks who have favorites.
Thanks!

OK s few issues . . . 1) what do you consider 'moderate'? What is your actual budget?
2) Car parking at full service SF hotels can run $40 to $60+ per day, with in and out privileges possibly even more.
3) Indoor pools would indicate a large full service hotel which can be really expensive. But the outdoor pools are sorta useless most of the year. Especially if you are traveling in the summer, it can be too foggy or cold to swim so not that many properties have pools.
One place to look are the group including Cow Hollow Inn, Coventry Motor Inn, Columbus Motor Inn and a few others. All have parking (mostly free) and family rooms and are convenient to public transport.

I second the Cow Hollow area-that is the area we mostly suggest for families especially with cars since some properties will have free parking. Cow Hollow Inn doesn't allow pets but I don't think it has a pool but I do believe they have free parking. They also have 2 bedroom suites which might be nice for a family. I was also thinking of Hotel Del Sol since they have a heated pool but they have pay parking and are pet friendly, so probably not a good choice for you.

If you are flying into SFO, consider not getting a rental car until you leave SF (if going somewhere else). You definitely do not need a car in SF. We always stay at Chelsea Inn because we drive to SF. But if that's not the case for you, then a car is not necessary.

One thing to note -- room rates in San Francisco are very date dependent.
The Club Qtrs Arslan mentions for example -- in June their family rooms can run from just under $200 one night to over $500 the next night. Plus they don't have on site parking.
