hotels in San Francisco
My boyfriend and I (mid twenties) will be staying in SF.. we want to say in one of the boutique hotels.. we don't need anyting too fancy or anything, just a decent room at a reasonable price close to the center of everyhing. (We won't have a car). So far, I have narrowed it down to:
Galleria Park Hotel (191 Sutter St. ) The Carlton Hotel (1075 Sutter St.) The York Hotel (940 Sutter St.) The King George Hotel (334 Mason St. ) Sir Francis Drake (450 Powell St. ) Does anyone have any suggestions, as far as these hotels go? Anyone stayed there? How are these locations? Thanks so much!!! |
Erin, it's great you posted addresses! I live in SF so I don't stay in hotels, and sometimes I would be able to give advice on the area, but I don't know where this hotel is, and I'm lazy to search :)
Now, as I got this off my chest... Carlton and York have the least desirable locations restaurant-wise and transport-wise. The area is safe, but not as good as the other 3 hotels on your list. You will get more advices, I'm sure. |
The Galleria Park is 1/2 block from my office and is closer to the financial district than Union Square (if that is a concern). I think it is a great location, close to everything (Chinatown, transportation) but just far enough away from tourist central i.e. Union Square that you are awy from the souvenir shops and discount camera places.

would the galleria park be within walking distance to union square though?

Yes erincc the Galleria Park is at Sutter and Kearny 3 blocks from Union Square proper i.e. Post and Stockton. Downtown SF is not that large, in fact SF itself is only 8 square miles.
