Hotels in San Antonio

I am attending a conference at the Grand Hyatt near the River Walk. in San Antonio, TX I'd like to stay in one of the Marriotts nearby. I see that both the River Center and River Walk Marriotts are nearby. Should I pick one over the other?

Birdie, do you still need info? I have stayed at the Marriott Rivercenter and it was nice. It is connected to the Rivercenter Mall so you have people wandering in from the street to cut through the lobby. It was very hectic in the lobby.

If you are looking for a more upscale experience you might want to try the Marriott Rivewalk, although I'm not familiar with that one. I'm just commenting since no one else has.

We stay at the Marriott Rivercenter too. It's a nice spot in a good location.

Thank you, ladies. Your info was very helpful. I'm sorry I didn't thank you sooner but I wanted to report back after my stay so that others could use it for future reference.

I kept my reservation at the Marriott Riverwalk for a couple of reasons. It appeared that all the rooms had balconies and I was able to get a concierge floor room there. It is the closest hotel to the Hyatt (directly across the street) but the River Center is also very close and accessible by a walkway into the River Walk and through the lobby.

The River Walk is actually the newer and larger of the two Marriotts but the RC isn't too shabby. The lobby is new and very comfortable with free wireless (of course, no wireless in the rooms) We didn't get a balcony. Only the river facing rooms have those. I would request a river facing room, not only for the balcony, but for the quiet. Even though we were up on the 28th floor we heard a lot of train noise, etc.

The RC has a very nice workout room and indoor/outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is surrounded by a large patio with several tables and comfortable conversation areas. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
