Hotels in Kauai
I'm traveling to Maui & Kauai in September 2004. Wanted some thoughts on hotels in Kauai? Right now, leaning towards either the Hyatt or Princeville? Any experiences? The pool at the Hyatt looks awesome.

Have not been to Princeville - But the
pool at the Hyatt is fabulous. It is the pool we compare all other to.... Have fun. |
Travel channel rates the Princeville as the #2 resort and Hyatt as #4 of all resorts in all of Hawaii. If you're into pools go to Maui (e.g. Grand Wailea). Will top a post about the great Fodors "Kauai hotel debate:Princeville vs Hyatt"
:S- |
The pool and lagoon at the Hyatt are lovely. It is so spread out and varied that there was always a spot where one could find privacy and not have to contend with screaming children or rude people on cell phones. We loved it there and would return in a minute.

I agree with bquarre - the Hyatt pool
is much better and more relaxing than the Grand Wailea. I would never go to the GW - but would return to the Hyatt in a flash. |
Thanks for the info, but I've been reading other posts that the North Shore is the rainy part? Is this true? I'll be there in September.

If you check the historic monthly averages for LIH found on this website:
http://www.wunderground.com/NORMS/Di...e&IATA=LIH September is among those with the lowest ((R))rain((R)).:S- |
To JohnD,
We stayed in Princeville two years ago. No problem with the rain showers. We actually enjoyed them as the only lasted a short time... 5 or 10 minutes. The clouds are beautiful!Sometimes it rained most of the night. I have very fond memories of warm breezes blowing through the wide open windows at night, while listening to the rainfall hitting the broad elephant ear leafed plants outside. |
