Hotels in DC suggestions?
What hotels in DC have you used that are with in our parameters? We (my husband and I) are treating 6 family members (sisters, mine and his, and children) to a Washington,DC trip this July for three days. We need three hotel rooms. We would like to keep the cost under $100. per room per night, if possible and would also like to have safe, clean, and comfortable rooms. We will use the Metro to "park and ride". We are asking for suggestions. Thanks!

Does "park and ride" mean that you're looking for a place in the distant suburbs?
Otherhwise, I'd recommend bidding for 3 rooms on Priceline in the Downtown or Convention center areas; we've stayed in a few of PL's 3* hotels and they were great. |
Agree that Priceline.com may be your best bet. The rack rate for most DC hotels is well over $200. With Priceline: try Dupont Circle area as well as Downtown and Convention Center area. Good luck. Any hotel in these zones will be walking distance to a Metro station.

If you can arrange your stay to be Friday/Saturday/Sunday you can get very good rates and packages at most hotels. Try the Loew's L'Enfant Plaza for starters; it's right on top of a métro station and is in an excellent location for all the sights and museums along the Mall.

We stayed at the Washington Suites right on the edge of Georgetown, close to the Foggy Bottom metro stop. All rooms have full kitchens. It used to be a Doubletree. Was a little over the hill in terms of decor but was a great buy, clean and a safe area. Included day-use of a spa at a more pricey hotel a couple blocks away. Good restaurants all around--esp. a breakfast place two blocks away in Georgetown.

Check out the Capitol Reservations discount hotel web site--we found some very good deals there, including one at Lowes L'Enfant Plaza.
