Hotels in Atlantic City
 

There are 4 adults attending a wedding in NJ this summer and we have agreed to drive the next day to Atlantic City for 1 night since none have been there. My question is what hotel would be recommended that is in the center of the boardwalk area. We would like to stay at a nicer hotel since it would be one night but checked out Ceasar's rates and they were extremely high. Any suggestions on other hotels or a way of getting a better rate at some of the nicer hotels. Thanks for any suggestions.

Weekends run about 300-400/nt to stay at the better bwalk properties (Taj, Caesars, Ballys, etc). The only discount is to gamble and get comped. Harrah's offers -$50 up front to rated players. Other than that, I've found no way around the rates. Tropicana has decent weekday rates but weekends run $300.

Is it any cheaper on Sunday nights in Atlantic City? Also what hotels would be in the central part of the boardwalk that would be a bit more upscale?

Sunday nights are much cheaper. Taj Caesars Ballys.

Looks like the major casino hotels are still in the $150 range for Sunday night. You may want to consider the Royal Suites at Atlantic Palace. It's a highrise hotel on the Broadwalk, and seem to be cheaper than Taj, Bally, etc...

Otherwise, you don't have many choices. Most of the motels and chain hotels are not on the broadwalk.

I was told that the Taj was down the far end of the boardwalk is that so? I know there was a rate that wasn't too bad there. Also how is the Trump or Tropicanna?

Taj is at one end, Trop is at the other. I've stayed at the Trop several times, it's OK, really smoky in the casino area though. The boardwalk is not that big it's 10 minute walk end to end. THere are basically 3 hotels in the center, Caesars, Ballys and the Trump Plaza. There are three "Trump" hotels so I don't know which one you are referrfing to. I've only stayed at the Taj.

Would you recommend the Taj since you stayed there? Any feedback on the Trump in the middle of the boardwalk? Caesars was extremely high, is it one of the best there? Thanks for the info.

Caesar's is nice, but you could also (I know some of you will cringe!) stay at the Holiday Inn, or another "better" chain. I do that all the time, as I'd rather save $ on the room, and have some left for gambling. As someone else said, the boardwalk is not long. Even if you stay at the end, it will not be a long walk to the other end. There are also some outlet stores that recently opened. They are located across from Caesar's, and are on your way to the new Convention Hall & train station area. Something else to do for people burned out on gambling. The Atlantic Palace, and/or other time share-type places that have nightly room rentals, are a good alternative to casino hotels, also. PS - Stop by the Borgata for a treat - very swanky place with shops, good restaurants, etc..!
