Hotels for Mardi Gras

I am going to Mardi Gras next year and am looking for a hotel that is close to the action, with reasonable rates. It doesn't have to be a great place, but not a dump either.

GOOD LUCK. THE TRAVEL WEBSITES W'ONT BE ABLE TO HELP YOU. YOU'LL NEED TO CALL THE HOTELS DIRECTLY.

You didn't mention a city, so I assume you mean New Orleans. Rates are high during Mardi Gras so forget "close" and "reasonable" in the same breath. Your best bet, in my opinion, is a B&B although many are sold out already. Try using www.bbnola.com to search. Another option may be one of the newer downtown hotels like the Hilton Garden Inn near the convention center.

Last time in N.O. (not Mardi Gras though), we stayed at the Wyndham Bourbon Orleans on Royal St. -- it's about 1 block away from Bourbon. GREAT location, and a little pricey ($200 a night in May, probably more for Mardi Gras). It was nice enough. Good luck.

Most hotels have minimum stay requirements for Mardi Gras and rates are high. Book something now. Do you want to see parades or party in the Quarter - or both? You might be able to book a B&B uptown near St. Charles to see all the parade action, but then you'll have a problem getting to the Quarter. If you stay in the Quarter (if you can find anything), you'll pay a lot. Either way - start now. Have a great time!
