Hotels close to Salt Lake City Airport

Hello, we are flying in to Salt Lake City in mid June arriving around 10 PM and just need a clean and economical place to stay for the night. Also our departure flight is at 6:30 AM in early July. Looking for recommendations of where to stay the 2 nights. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Are you headed out the next morning? If so, in which direction?

Stay anywhere at the hotels WEST of the airport. Do not stay at any of the hotels on North Temple east of the airport. Just open up google maps, find the SLC airport and then move the map to where the hotels are. I know there is a Hilton and I think a Marriott and maybe some others. Any of those are fine. They are the closest to the airport.

Google SLC Airport -- then click on the map that displays next to the photo. When the map opens, add "Hotels near" in the dialog box at the top left and every hotel with their current rates (not necessarily the rate the nights you'll be there) will display. You can zoom in to get right down to the property or zoom out t get the bigger picture. On the west side you'll see all the usual suspects - Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn, Double Tree, etc etc etc. I prefer to use satellite mode for the clearer image.

Starrs asks a good question. On two of our trips to Arches/Bryce/Zion we arrived SLC from the East coast around 10 PM. We stayed at a Hampton Inn in Lehi about 30 miles south to avoid the Salt Lake City morning rush hour traffic. Zero traffic getting to Lehi at 10:30 PM, typical clean comfortable Hampton Inn.

For me, it's basic Road Trip 101.

If you can make a 30 minute drive late at night (with no traffic) and prevent an hour (or more) in morning commute traffic, it's time well spent. Unless one plans to sleep late to miss morning commute traffic.

Good point. If you are going north, try for a chain hotel near Layton or Clearfield.
If you are hungry, there is a 24 hour Denny's not too far from the SLC airport.
