Hotels and age 32
 

Anyone know of the hotel Park Place Hotel near 1st or 2nd street in Ocean City MD? Feedback please!! My friend booked it and I am not sure if I can even go yet. Also, We are few single 32 year old guys looking to go down to Ocean City. I was informed it's mostly a family/college age boardwalk/beach. Can someone or many of you give feeback on the "Scene/age group". Thanks!!!

Not familiar with the hotel, try looking it on OChotels.com or a search engine. The beach is ok but it attracts a lot of trailor trash and some ghetto people. I'd drive half an hour north and go to Dewey beach where the crowd is classier and a little older. Probably in the early 20s to late 20s. OC has lots of families and at night can become a meat market and full of low rider pick up trucks playing rap. I meant crap.

I live in NY and understand everything you are saying and that was my concern. My friends went there 8 years ago and want to go back for some reason. I wasn't committed due to work but can still go if I wanted too.<BR><BR>I am more into chatting with intellects, NYC/ (hamptons) type people.<BR><BR>Are there many people (groups of girls) mid 20's to early 30's down there? What is it like at the 1st / 2nd street part of the boardwalk?

I doubt you'll find many "intellects" among "groups of GIRLS"

If you are staying on 1st and 2nd streeets near the Boardwalk in OC, you are going to want to punch yourself in the dick. It is loud, crowded and gets rowdy late at night because of the under 21 club nearby. If you must stay in OC, go north at the 100s streets. A little far from the boardwalk but much less teenagers and kids. You should definitely look into Dewey Beach instead.

Jason is right Ocean City attracts a very young crowd.<BR><BR>The older (20, 30 somethings) rent summer houses in Rehoboth and Dewey, the teens go to OC.

I agree, the crowds down there are very young. I felt old and I'm only 26. I was just there 4th of July weekend, I had fun but we stayed at the Princess Royale which is around 91st street and I was there with family for a charity golf outing.

Forgot to mention, you should try Dewey beach if you are looking to hang out with other 20's/30's age group. Also, many of the beaches down on the Jersey Shore attract good crowds like Spring Lake and Long Beach Island.<BR>

Dewey is probably the best bet. Rehobeth is OK, but if you are homophobic, you may be uncomfortable. It does have a higher percentage of gays than other beach resorts in the area, and some of the businesses make a special effort to cater to them. However, it also has some of the best (but expensive) restaurants.

I agree with the above posters- I am barely in my mid-20's and the "kids" in OCMD get on my nerves. It's too many high school kids, most of whom have been drinking, in too small a space. My patience runs very thin. OCMD is nice, but you have to be a very patient person. I'd reccomend Dewey as well.

Rule of thumb on OC: the lower down you go (street number-wise), the cheaper the places to stay, the more run-down they get, and the younger the crowd gets (down to 16-17). You won't find any hamptonites around 1st-2nd street. Sounds like your group would be a lot happier in Dewey Beach. Dewey attracts the 23-35 year old post-college crowd. Lots of seasonal group houses. Go to Taco Toss on Friday night (at the lighthouse), Jam Session on Saturday afternoon (at the Bottle & Cork), Starboard or Waterfront Saturday night (Waterfront crowd is 22-25, Starboard is about 25-35), and then the Starboard Sunday morning for breakfast & bloody marys. Rusty Rudder also draws a big crowd on Saturday night, but the crowd is older (30+) than the starboard, and it's not quite such a meet market as Starboard, the players stay at Starboard. Have a good time. Hotels with good location (middle of action) are Sea Esta III, Best Western Gold Leaf, Rodney Beach Suites, Southwinds.

I live in Wash DC, about 2.5 hrs from OC. I agree with comments below. OC is full of drunk 17 yr old teenagers.<BR>If you must stay in OC, stay in higher block 70th St+ (zero is boardwalk)<BR>and take the bus down to boardwalk, etc.<BR><BR>If in later 20's, I'd stay in Dewey or Rehobeth Beach (both in Delaware, but about 15 min drive from start of OC).<BR><BR>Boardwalk is loud, very cheezy, cheap, and not to safe to boot.

I just returned form a 6 day trip to O.C. with my husband and we are 31. We had a GREAT TIME!!! There is plenty of nightlife for people our age and we didn't feel "old". Of course there are 17 year olds at the boardwalk but why would you go there except during the day to see it . As for the above poster saying it isn't safe- I couldn't stop laughing b/c he is from D.C! I think the biggest crime is O.C. is underage drinking. If you are in your late 20's/30's you will not enjoy staying on the boardwalk - better to be north of 45th street. Thsi is a great beach town - very laid back and not for people who insist on 5 star luzxury. We enjoy luxury places but on our other vacations. This is definitely a party town adn for all of you who don't know where to go out at night and avoid the "kids" there are so many places but you ahve to go on the right night so just ask a local. Some suggestion: Greent Turtle, fishtales, Macky's, Fager's Island. These are all casual beach bars. If you're into the cheesy nightclub scene ther are a few dance clubs but I don't go there. Have Fun!!!
