Hotels

Which hotel would you recommend over the other and why? The Midland or Palmer House Hilton? Thanks.
Kathy

What city?

KAL May 26th, 2000 06:23 AM

Kathy, I assume it's Chicago. I've attended meetings at the Midland and it was nice. I stayed at the Palmer House and it's absolutely gorgeous. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Slightly better location. Closer to the museums, Grant Park, Mag-mile, but you may want to take a taxi if it's late.
Kal

It's no contest--definitely the Palmer House Hilton.

I am so sorry - of course these hotels are in Chicago! My error. I have a class at 230 W. Monroe. I know The Midland is closer but since you guys seem to choose Palmer House, I assume I can walk to the site or grab a cab. Thanks!
Kathy

I've stayed at both hotels and my vote goes for the Palmer House. The Midland is in the process of being refurbished and the newer rooms are nice but it is deeper in the loop than the Palmer. The Palmer is closer to the attractions, the lobby is exquisite, and the rooms are nice. I found the staff at the Midland to be a bit 'unfriendly'.
