Hotel within walking distance of COSI?

We are taking a quick overnight trip from Cincinnati to Columbus to see COSI. Any recommendations for hotel nearby, maybe even within walking distance. How about a fun dinner with kids? My two boys are 4 and 8. We will be going with my mother, too.

Thank you for your time & have a great weekend.

To the best of my recollection, COSI is not inthe best part of town. I would be more inclined to stay downtown, & drive over.

The closest hotel within walking distance of COSI would be the Doubletree Guest Suites on Front St. in downtown Columbus near the State Capitol. That said, not sure that would be a fun destination with kids. The first weekend of every month is Gallery Hop in the Short North and will also be the annual Art Festival in the Cultural District, neither of which will be in walking distance.

If you do decide to stay downtown, German Village or the Short North will be your best bets for dining. The North Market would be fun for lunch, many stalls and cuisines to choose from - Columbus' version of Pike's Market. There is a BD Mongolian BBQ in the Arena District as well as a Rise n Dine (breakfast & lunch). Max & Erma's is a hamburger chain that got its start in German Village. Not sure if you can take kids into the Thurman Cafe in German Village, but they have the best burgers in town. Schmidt's Sausage House would also be fun for brats & cream puffs. Katzinger's Deli in GV would be a good place for breakfast or lunch as well. You have Graeter's in Cincy, so be sure to check out Jeni's ice cream in Cbus, much better! You realy do need a car.

Thank you for the advice. : )

We stayed at the Hyatt on Capital Square, across the river. We had a club room, and had snacks in the evening and a nice continental breakfast in the morning.

We drove straight from Cincy to COSI and parked there. We were at COSI until closing at 5pm, then drove to the hotel and checked in. We went to the lounge for snacks, which we not impressive, but fine. And watched the US Open. Since it was a Friday night we were the only ones there. For dinner we just ordered room service (the kids were tired, etc).

The next morning we had a nice breakfast in the lounge, checked out and went to the Columbus Zoo before heading back to Cincy.

A nice little trip. Thanks again & Happy planning!
