Hotel Tampa Bay

Swedish couple going to Tampa Bay for Superbowl, staying in area between January 25-29th. Were should we stay? Tampa? St Pete? We prefer small charming hotel than big resort type hotel. Price is no issue.

It's going to be difficult this late to find something. To the best of my knowledge, it is difficult to find small and charming unless you go to a beach community. THis is a good question for CMcDaniel who knows the ins and outs of the hotel industry in that area. Hopefully, you'll get a response from her.

You might want to consider Longboat Key or Anna Maria Island. Both are beach communities which are about one hour south of Tampa. THere are plenty of small and charming places at both. If you're interested in more information about that area, you could do a search here, or post a new question.

Nathalie, The entire Tampa Bay area is sold out right down to the Sarasota area.

As Sal indicated, rooms are released as some fans find their teams are out and they no longer care to make the trip. There is a "clearing house " operation that the Superbowl Task Force has commissioned where area hotels will turn their unrented inventory over, then they will sell the rooms for the individual properties and be the housing bureau for the event. The number is 1-888-NFL-HIKE.

Super Bowl tickets are next to impossible to you have yours already? Aside from the major event, there is the "Super Bowl Experience" over that period and the city has also decided (much to most everyone's dismay) to move Gasparilla (pirate's version of Mardi Gras) to that weekend as well, so there should be plenty to keep everyone entertained even if they haven't been able to scrounge up tickets for the game.
