Hotel Suggestion in Las Vegas
 

Looking for a hotel suggestion in Las Vegas for first week of November. Would like a relatively nice hotel on the strip. The Bellagio shows no availability online. What about Treasure Island? I have heard bad things about the management at the Mirage. Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated. Have never been to Las Vegas.

Just returned from a stay at the Aladdin and the rooms were very nice. The hotel is not as crowded as some of the others and is a good choice for a first time visitor. An easy walk to Paris, Bellagio, MGM, Monte Carlo & NYNY.
The "resort rooms" are especially nice, with a view of Bellagio fountains.

The Aladdin is a good choice, actually. How much do you want to spend? The price for a room in the major resorts shoots up for Friday & Saturday night stays, so you'll have to factor that in.

I like the Mirage-- never had a problem with staff or management. But it might be more than you want to spend.

I've never had a problem at the Mirage and the owners also own Treasure Island and Bellagio. TI is sufficient but given the choice between the 2, I like Mirage better. One thing at the Mirage is they are real sticklers for checking room keys on your way into the elevator area. It gets old fast. Rooms are small but nice. I've never stayed in TI but have visited the property. Checking out Aladdin might be a good suggestion espcially since it will become Planet Hollywood and you could say you visited a Vegas institution, at least the namesake.

Aladdin and Paris are both great and relatively inexpensive.

Loki, Bellagio and Treasure Island do that key check thing also. Had a rather odd experience at Bellagio -- two female friends of ours were sharing a room when we were all there at the same time. One of the girls went downstairs to get something and didn't take her key because the other was staying in the room. They wouldn't let her back on the elevator without a key. She finally went to a house phone and had her friend come downstairs to get her. Big moral -- YOUR KEY: DON'T LEAVE YOUR ROOM WITHOUT IT.

I've stayed in almost all of the hotels on the Strip over the years. My advice:

If The Bellagio is sold out, I highly recommend The Venetian. It's the second most luxurious hotel on the Strip, after Bellagio. Its standard rooms are also much larger than the other rooms available on the Strip. It also has great shopping in the hotel and a number of excellent restaurants.

Mandalay Bay is great, Paris is nice. Both of these would be great choices. Places like Treasure Island and MGM Grand are a little more family-oriented and less luxurious, but certainly clean, comfortable and fine to stay in.

If I may interject a question or two as I'm also looking to go to Vegas this November. No one has mentioned Monte Carlo. I know it's a step down from Bellagio, Venetian, etc., but how does it stack up against places like Paris, Aladdin, Caesars, Mirage?

If price was about the same for those 4 or 5 hotels, where would you recommend staying?

Another vote for Aladdin. Stayed there twice. Beautiful resort with huge marble bathrooms. Be sure to get a room with a view of the fountains at Bellagio. Last year we called the hotel directly and paid around $70 a night(weekday).

Monte Carlo is a nice hotel. Never stayed there. I did hear from someone that the walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbors and the hallway traffic. Hotel looks pretty nice Good location. If I had to choose, I'd recommed Aladdin especially if you can get some good prices.

when we stayed at the Mirage, they didn't key check us. no key check at Bally's. yes, key check at the Orleans. We are staying at Aladdin in December...i can't wait.

I JUST got back from vegas and we stayed at the Treasure Island..WONDERFUL place..TI used to cater to families, but they have just spent a ton of money on the place to change that image..very very nice..rooms are large, marble bathrooms..no more sunken battle ship show..they are unveiling a more adult like pirate battle with sirens i think in October..We really had a great stay at TI..and the location is very good...

Four of us are going to be in Las Vegas the first week of November. We are staying at the MGM for the first time. Have stayed at Luxor, Treasure Island (twice) and Mirage. Of the 3 I've stayed at previously, my preference is Treasure Island - nice room, easy to get around, and one morning at approx. 6:00 a.m. alone in the casino I really cleaned up!!!

I'm hoping to enjoy the MGM ... we've booked Grand Tower rooms for 7 nights!! Would love an upgrade to a Bungalo Suite but I'm not holding my breath. We are there for the SEMA Show at the L.V. Convention Centre. The men in our party are nuts for all that car crap.

To jump in with my own question - restaurants for 7 days: I'm thinking:

- Verandah at The Four Seasons
- Il Fornaio at NY NY (not so sure)
- Wild Sage
- Monte Carlo Pub & Brewery (for casual)
- Captain Mike's Seafood House (if we can find it)
- Sunday brunch buffet at The Bellagio
- In 'N Out Burger
- Fat Burger
- possibly N9ne at the Palms

Since we're staying at the MGM I would think we should try to go to Emeril's Seafood House. I've also heard good things about Delmonico's at the Venetian (I think its at the Venetian??). Anyone have anything to say about any of my choices. I like to be the one to pick restaurants for the entire group ... I have thick skin so if I pick flops ... oh well.

Mandalay Bay, it's the only place I stay in Vegas.

I live in Las Vegas, so I see and hear a lot, especially from people who visit. Here's my hotel picks, other than Bellagio: Venetian, Mandalay Bay, Aladdin, Treasure Island, Cesaers Palace, The Palms, and The Rio. The Palms and Rio are a little off the stip, but I believe there's a free shuttle.

As for restaurants, we eat out a lot, and I mean a lot. It's a perk to living here. =)
N9ne at the Palms (great service, trendy)
Prime at the Bellagio (awesome view, steak melts in your mouth)
Delmonico's at the Venetian
Gardunos at the Palms (inexpensive, great Mexican food)
The Pink Taco at the Hard Rock (great celebrity sightings, good tacos)
Ferraro's (off the strip, but excellent)
P.F. Chang's at the Alladin (a chain restaurant, but a good choice)

One other note... If you want to eat at one of the more expensive restaurants, make reservations ASAP. Delmonico's fills up fast- we had to make reservations 2 months in advance once. Hope this helps- have fun in Vegas!

PF CHANGS - YES, YES, YES!

Have stayed at MGM, Mirage, Bellagio, Harrahs, Caesars, Monte Carlo,Flamingo and LV Hilton and we prefer MGM to all the others, then Caesars if you can get a room with a view. Have stayed in a bungalow suite at MGM also, which was really nice. MGM rooms are big, have either king bed or 2 queens and are very nicely decorated - staff are also much nicer than at a lot of the others.Elevators to rooms are close to reception, which they certainly are not at Caesars - you have to walk throught the casino to which ever tower your room is in.

Treasure Island (TI) just auctioned off the pirate stuff and is getting away from the kids theme. They want to attract a more adult crowd.

How many different names does this same person use (Tobin, Devinson, Chillin, Gomez....?
Always the same comments about Harrah's in Las Vegas and San Jose.
Gets pretty tiresome.

We love the Mirage. Never had any trouble with management [what kind of trouble?] I feel safer because they do check the room keys.
