Hotel Suggestion for Dec. in NYC
Special birthday girl trip to NYC in Dec, looking for a very nice hotel room for 4 women. Think we'd prefer to be close to Rockefeller Center. Prefer to be under $1000. a night.

A suite at The Michelangelo.
A suite at Le Parker Meridian. |
This post exemplifies something I don;t understand.
Obviously with a budget of $1000 - even at Christmas time - there are a variety of options. Why in the world would 4 grown women want to stuff themselves into one room with one bath. When I travel on business I thank god for the time alone in my room - to get away from my co-workers - with whom I get along very well - but 24 hours a day with anyone (even the one you love after a few days) IMHO is enough to drive one to madness. Why not just get two rooms, two baths, and not be falling all over each other all the time? (It would be different if it were a 2-bedroom suite with a separate living room to congregate as you please - but 4 in one room/bath - just way too much togetherness.) |
To nytraveler: I agree about the benefits of having 2 rooms, quite honestly I was unable to find a 4 or 5 Star hotel room for $500/night, which is what I'd need if I were to get 2 rooms and keep within a $1000 night budget. I'm open to any hotel suggestions you might have.......

GoTravel: I was able to book a room at The Michelangelo but had read mixed reviews on the hotel, some said the rooms were shabby and worn. Anyone been there recently?

I was there back late spring and the hotel was as gorgeous as ever.
It is a lovely boutique hotel in an excellent location. I can't think of why anyone would have any complaints about the hotel. To me, it would be like complaining at the St. Regis. |
I would grab the Michelangelo ifyou can get it.
Esp in NY - where many rooms are designed for 2 people only, or if for 4 are still very small - finding a decent room for 4 can be a real issue - never mind the packing in together problem. |
I would HIGHLY recommend THe Palace as a good choice. It is on Madison Ave, close to all the sites on 5th Ave and has beautiful lighting for the Holidays as well. My favorite hotel in the city.
Have a GREAT time while you are here. |
