hotel spy cams?

I found a thread regarding this from 2001, but did not really answer my question. Tiny spy cameras are so much more prevalent and available now, has anyone read anything about the possiblilty of hotel personnel placing these in guests rooms to get their jollies?

You've obviously been watching too many reality shows!

Any business could place cameras in the bathrooms, landlords could place them in bedrooms of rental properties, gym owners could place them in locker rooms, and clothing retailers could place them in fitting rooms. Your neighbor could come over for a visit and ask to use your bathroom, then place one over your shower. I could go on, but you get the idea. If someone wants to see you naked, they'll see you. I think anyone who goes to that much trouble and expense deserves to see what they can see. I only feel sorry for anyone who chooses to spy on me. :O

P_M: But I've read about landlords doing that -- it's illegal, no? At least the ones I've read about were arrested for *spying* (peeping Tom).

Hmmm, but then again, you get lots of people using "nanny cams" and it's used in court in cases of abuse. interesting.....

Sure, they're everywhere. I even have one attached to my computer than goes out to anyone connected to the same website.
Please arriba, button up your blouse a bit, will you??

On a different online group where I chat some, one of the women believes these things might very well exist. She says she undresses in the bathroom with a towel covering her as much as possible! She must be a lot of fun on a trip. lol

According to her, there was a TV documentary a couple years ago where they showed false walls in some hotels--I'm not sure if that's where the cameras were or if employees went into these false walls to watch. ick

Now...I hate opening this can of worms, needless to say, but there are some people who believe this...believe it or not!

Actually, my DH is seeing if he can arrange for theater seating within the false walls... ;) Employee perks dontchaknow...

seetheworld, I have also heard about landlords doing this. Just last year there was a big news story in my home city about a sushi bar where the owner had a spy cam in the ladies room. He was arrested and charged, but I don't recall how much time he got. Thankfully I don't like sushi so I never went there, but my supervisor was a regular customer. She was not too happy when this story broke. If this has ever happened to me, I don't want to know about it.

Patrick, no wonder you spend so much time on this board!! I'd better go get dressed now....

OO, tell your online friend to put the towel over her head. That way no one will know who it was they were looking at. :D

arriba Apr 9th, 2005 11:23 AM

Patrick, I thought that was our little secret!!!

GoTravel Apr 9th, 2005 03:21 PM

Marilyn, if she has the towel over her head, how will she know they are watching?

OO, know all about those 'false' walls. Can't believe the rest of the world is just know finding out about them. You'd think the media would have picked up on this juicy tidbit by now; maybe not 60 Minutes or Dateline but at least Access Hollywood.

Marilyn Apr 9th, 2005 03:31 PM

GoTravel, she can pretend whichever way she likes. :D

I found a peep hole from my friends' room into the motel office Spring Break 1978 in Ft. Lauderdale. No high tech needed! No wonder why they were able to get a room at the last minute with no reservation. They were not college students, but models...

You know, you can't worry about hotel rooms. You might as well worry about restaurant bathrooms, gyms, and school locker rooms. And what about those pervs with cell phone cameras following women in skirts up escalators!

For the first time, I can happily say that this old body is past the age of inviting peeping Tom's. I think any peeper might lose his lunch. =) However, my DH just assured me that there are folks that gets kicks from looking at just about anything. Now . . . do you suppose that was a compliment?? ;-o
