Hotel rooms with 2 queen beds (not just double beds) near theater district?

We're a family of four soon travelling to New York and wanting to stay right in the theater district. Many hotels I've contacted offer rooms with two double beds. Rooms with two queen beds are harder to find. (Trust me, once your kids get to a certain size, double beds are simply too small!) To save money, we prefer to stay in just one room rather than pay for a connecting room. Any suggestions? We're looking for a nice hotel with room prices in the low $200's.

Just wondering why you've chosen the theater district. I live in and love NYC and always suggest that visitors stay elsewhere.

Regarding your hotel question, that'll be tough, particularly in the summer. I'd suggest calling several hotels directly and relaying your precise needs. You just may get lucky.

Good luck and enjoy NYC!

We're going to a LOT of Broadway shows during our stay in New York -- four to be precise! Yes, we like the theater. The convenience of just walking a couple of blocks to and from each show is appealing to us. And it seems like if we're ever going to stay in the theater district, this is the trip we should do it.

I just googled your question (New York City 2 Queen Beds) and found that the Gorham offers a room with 2 queen beds. Not sure which one, but you might check their website or call them. We are staying there in Aug. Good to know!

I would go to priceline and bid on two hotel rooms. I'm sure you can get them for under $100 per room before tax.

Another possibility is doubletree suites. The bedroom has either a king, queen or 2 doubles. the living room area has a sofa bed. I'm sure you could also request a rollaway so the kids can have their own bed. We always request a rollaway so may kids don't have to share a bed.

The Essex House on Central Park has rooms with two queen beds. Location is close to the theater district, upper west side.

Try the Marriott Marquis ... sometimes they offer specials in the $200/night range.
