There will not be an elevator to access the Statue of Liberty's crown. There can never be. It's not physically possible. The only elevator is to the top of the pedestal.

I'm going to differ pretty strongly with Bowsprit here. The Seaport is not at all convenient. It's a rather long walk to the subway (10 or 15 minutes), and you are pretty much limited to expensive touristy restaurants that are mediocre at best. I really dislike the Seaport area, so I can't really find much good to say about it. It's very much like Pier 39 in San Francisco, which is one of my least favorite places in the entire world. Having said, that Pier 39 is the busiest tourist attraction in San Francisco, so to each his/her own.

That's ok Doug. I get it. You don't love it. I love the area. The buses are also right there and they'll take you wherever you want to go. I will say we don't eat there as the choices are limited in every way. My daughter lived on Gold St. so we were there often and enjoyed the convenience of the area.

We do agree that Pier 39 is a lousy place though. I wouldn't compare the Seaport to Pier 39 though. :)

Doug: Isn't it just a 2 minute walk from Gold St. to the Fulton st. station?

Aduchamp posted this great link about the downtown area. Downtown includes a lot more than just the Seaport!
