Hotel room in Las Vegas with teenagers
We are thinking about taking our teens ages 18 and 16 to Las Vegas over Christmas.
We need input on hotels that are not too expensive or over the top.
Family members that go stay at the Bellagio and Venetian but we are looking for something not so extravagant.
Suggestions were:
Treasure Island
New York, New York
Caesars Palace
MGM Grand
Any suggestions either way?

We took our teens to Vegas summer of 2008 and stayed at Caesar's Palace. We don't mind staying there again for our next trip. Nice rooms, very good location. We also ordered room service for breakfast for most of our stay - the food was actually quite good! Of course, we didn't hang around in the hotel because we pretty much wanted to see as much as we could during the course of our short 4-night stay.
If you're planning to go to the Hoover Dam, we took a comedy tour - the Hoot and Holler comedy tour (I just happened to see a brochure at our hotel, and was able to book our tour with no problem). The tour bus (it was a 16+ seater motorcoach) picked us up from the hotel next door and included lunch (it was nothing to rave about, but it was good), but the best part of the tour was the tour guide - a pretty good PG-13 rated comedienne. My teens loved her!
Have you booked your shows yet?

You might look into Bally's. We stayed there once in a suite and it was very spacious and the location is great. Make sure you request to stay in the remodeled part - some of our group got in the older section and it was pretty dumpy. The price was definitely better than the Bellagio and Venetian!

If you have a car we have enjoyed staying at the Orleans. It is a mile or so off the strip, but it does offer a bowling center, video game room and full on movie theater on the property. Many restaurants to choose from and all of the adult activities that I am looking for; sportsbook and a craps table. Prices are reasonable and it is a short 10 min. drive to whatever hotel you want on the strip. If you are on the southern end of the strip MGM or Mandalay Bay it is difficult to walk to the popular spots mid strip anyways. Enjoy...

Ok will do. You can expect it no later than the 25th
I have gone to "YouTube" and typed in the hotel's name and there are plenty of people who have posted videos of the rooms at different hotels so you can get a feel for it. That's what helped me decide on TI. I like the location and I got a good rate (for two rooms).
I'll give you an honest review when I get back.

Just wanted to let you know about a promotion that Harrah's is having on some of their properties including Ceaser's Palace. It is 25% off four nights or 20% off five nights. The codes are 25disc and 20disc and you book directly through the hotel. Hope this helps!

Lisa1420 - As promised, here is my review of Treasure Island.
We absolutely LOVED staying here! I liked that the hotel isn't so huge - you can actually walk in and get up to your room reasonably fast (some of the other hotels have a looooooong walk to even get to the elevators!). I liked that they have key cards that have to be inserted into the elevator for anyone to go up - they also have someone there at night making sure you have a key card or you don't get into the elevator lobby. (Nice security feature).
Our room was fantastic! We were on the 34th floor, overlooking the strip. Beautiful rooms - super comfy beds and nice tub/bathroom. Check in was a breeze - and so was check out. Staff was very friendly and we had no problems finding our way around there. Had breakfast at Kahunaville (thought that was a bit pricy - even with their coupon). But, for one day - it was fine.
I liked that you could easily walk over to Fashion Show Mall - we did more often than I thought! We loved Strip Burger there (yummy sliders! and they brought my daughter a small cake for her birthday). They food court was convenient there too and they have a nice gift shop - all reachable by the outside (we didn't even walk into the mall part).
The TI show outside is not worth your time (really stupid if you ask me) but we did see it - so if you want to say you did - go ahead, just don't expect much.
Daughter went to the club there and liked it. Again - not huge or overwhelming - just nice size. She also saw the Mysteric show and loved it too.
The location of the hotel is PERFECT. You can go up to Encore/Wynn or down via the Deuce. We found it pretty convenient. We enjoyed cheap drinks at the Casino Royale - which became our meeting place with the girls most days.
All in all - I would definately recommend the TI to anyone. Very nice, clean and not to BIG to navigate around and close to everything.
Hope this helps - feel free to ask any questions!
