Hotel rices

Hello, I am going to NYC Feb 15-19 and would like to know if I should book a hotel now or wait and see if they go down. Any info on if prices will lower as the date gets closer would be appreciated. Thanks

Start looking now, and if you see a hotel that you like with a rate you can live with, and that can be cancelled without penalty - book it! Then keep looking and if you find a better deal go for it and cancel the first one.

I would always book NYC well in advance. Even off-season, rooms book up quickly. As the above post stated, I would find a hotel with a good cancellation policy (24 hours in advance, 6 pm day of arrival, etc) and book it then keep checking to see if there are lower rates.

There are loads of options for booking now without paying and being able to cancel. Book something now (have a look on quikbook.com) and keep your eyes out for specials on travelzoo.com

The best value option I see on quikbook is On the Avenue for $185/night, but I don't know your budget or what you want. That's cancellable, btw.

Usually Jan/Feb is low season in NYC - and you should be able to get very good rates. President;s weekend/Valentine's day is an exception - so with your coming on the 15th may be a little more.

Agree to reserve something cancellable now and then keep looking. It's rare for the price of anything in NYC to go down rather than up. (Although if a big convention has rooms reserved and gives some of them up 3/4 weeks in advance new rooms may come on the market.)
