Hotel/Restaurant advise -Wrigley

We'll be visiting Wrigley in May to attend two games vs The Mets....which Westin Hotel is closest to the stadium? Also, any recommendations for one lunch and one dinner? We love great food in a casual atmosphere. Thanks so much.

I think the reason that you haven't had any replies is because there really aren't any hotels (at least that I am aware of) up by Wrigley Field. Wrigley is in a neighborhood with with homes, condos, apts, etc. I would suggest perhaps staying in the downtown/near north area and taking the el to Wrigley ($1.75 each way) - the el will drop you off right next to Wrigley.

I can't really help you with restaurants by Wrigley - about ten years ago I could list all the bars however! Actually, come to think of it, you may try Yakzies for lunch - right next to Wrigley (I assume it's still there) - as I recall they had great burgers (though it's more of a bar than restaurant, which should meet the criteria for casusal).

Thank you LauraT. We'll stay downtown/north and take the el.

I should have explained myself better...we'll have lunch and dinner in the city........thank you.

Skitravel, Try Metromix.com for some restaurant ideas, also there are some long discussions on this site-search restaurants, chicago. Do you have any type of food in mind?

I thought Italian for one of the meals...to make things even more complicated we have one vegetarian and one "meat and potatoes" eater in the group.

Thank you.

There are tons of good Italian restuarants which actually would be good to cover both people. Actually, Tuscany is very near Wrigley on Clark and a good place. Also, if you want to go near your hotel, Spiagia for very fancy Italian, Bice is good but more "dressy", Rosebud on Rush for more casual Italian, Italian Village in the Loop. I'm sure others will post a ton more suggestions-we seem to have more Italian restuarants than anything else.

One thought for either lunch or dinner is Ranalli's - if the weather is nice and you can eat outside. It is in Lincoln Park, which would be midway between Wrigley and downtown. In general, I think the food is nothing exceptional, but the atmosphere outside is very nice. They have a great beer list if that is of interest. Also, their pizza is very good. This may not meet you needs, but thought I woudl throw it out there.

One of my favorite casual spots for lunch - bar atmosphere in the River North area is the Green Door. Not sure about what they have for vegetarians, but you could check metromix and/or call.

There is already a recent string of posts with other Italian restaurant ideas, so I won't add anything repetetive. Another idea in Old Town (midway between Wrigley and dowtown, but closer to downtown) is Topo Gigio. Very good Italian and I think would fall into the casual category. It's in a cute neighborhood / on a cute street, too - a few boutique stores that are fun to browse in, if that's your thing.
