Try Bayona and NOLA for dinner and maybe Commander's Palace for brunch.

MIKE, you can't go wrong w/ bayona or nola, but i'd suggest booking ahead at both. we've had good luck at tujaques (two-jacks)on decatur (old new orleans).

I'm not sure when you plan on going, but a woman on another message board was having a terrible time trying to book reservations for guests at her daughter's wedding, which is May 20th. Apparently there are graduations for Tulane and Loyla and several conventions booked that week. When she asked to be put on a waiting list for the Windsor Court, she was told she'd be number 174! As for food reservations, I second Commander's Palace for any meal, but particularly Sunday brunch.

darn ! started coughing and hit the enter button b4 finishing !! some off beat places that were good, petunia's for breakfast/lunch (on st louis off bourbon)..mother's on poydras/ tchoupitoulas the best poor boys (ferdi's special w/ debris) and also good breakfasts(cheap)..pasqual manale's for bbq shrimp...if you're looking for the best muffelttas in town, the central grocery on decatur..we usually get one whole muff, a beverage of your choice, lots of napkins and go to the "moonwalk" and eat them on the banks of the mississippi and watch the ships float by. believe it or not, we got the best cheesburger and baked potato at a place just outside the qtr at "port of call" on the esplanade..try a "monsoon" to wash it down..take a taxi, though...a bit of a walk thru an unlit area...if you're at the crown plaza hol/inn you're right near the new harrah's casino.nice buffett.. i'd also like to suggest getting a tourist map called "mapeasy's guidemap to new orleans".these maps are basically "idiot-proof" and i can even read them. <BR>shows most of the restaurants/hotels/stores, etc..let the good times roll...kal
