Hotel Reservations in French Quarter
 

I'm trying to find a hotel or maybe B&B for my brother and sister in law. For their 5th anniversary present I made reservations at Emeril's NOLA restaurant (They're huge fans) for Saturday evening. They would like to drive up the night before and spend the night in New Orleans. So now I need to find a place for them to stay tomorrow night. It would be nice to find something in the Quarter. Ideas? Something nice but not too expensive.

One night stays are tough in the French Quarter. If the FQ doesn't work out, try the Central Business District (hotels) or Faubourg Marigny (B&Bs). Good luck and congrats to your bro/sis-in-law.

Someone mentioned the Chateau Motor Hotel on a previous post. I can't seem to find it online.
Psst...the restaurant is on Rue St Louis.

Try the French Market Inn (www.frenchmarketinn.com). At this late date, you'll have to call them. They claim their rates start as low as $79. It is very nice, very good area, close to NOLA, and very reasonable.

Tandoori--I checked out the site and (of course) I don't see how you can get the $79 a night. When I pulled my date up the French Quarter Inn gave a price of +$100. Found a great site called neworleansfinehotels.com It includes the French Quarter Inn and 8 other hotels. Thanks again!

I'd warn against staying at the Historic French Market Inn, which has one of the worst reputations of any hotel/inn in New Orleans. Among other problems, they're well-known for overbooking and then sending people to one of their other properties in less desirable locations.

I, too, am not a fan of the "Historic French Market Inn" which really isn't near the French Market. It is on a noisy corner near the river and does seem to overbook often.

The Omni at $149 and Astor at $126 seem to be pretty good prices if you can book them for 1 night only.

We've stayed at the Holiday Inn Chateau La Moyne and liked that alot-not to expensive.

jeez, don't go to the French Market Inn or I'll never live it down. I stayed in an apartment there that shared their entrance, so I've not actually stayed there. Sorry to steer you wrong, if I did. I've also stayed at the Hotel St. Pierre which is in a nice quiet section of the Quarter -- but some of the rooms are not particularly nice, while others are very nice. I wish you could afford for them to stay at the Bienville House Hotel, it is very romantic.

Nope...can't be too expensive. The restaurant itself is expensive enough. Maybe for their 25th anniversary!

This is a nice section of the quarter, quiet (not like that crummy old French Market Inn place...), as I said the drawback is that some of the rooms (such as the one on the website) seem to be nicer than others. Ask to reserve the room pictured on the web site next to the pool. I remember that it was a great little room, very romantic.

Prices were very good. And aren't you a sweetheart to do this for them!
