Hotel Refunds

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how long it takes to get a refund to a debit card when you cancel a reservation. Booked Luxor for 2/21-2/25 but saw Monte Carlo is cheaper and would rather stay thee this time. If anyone has an experience PLEASE post a message......... Yhanks

phlebo3: using our MC and disputing a hotel claim it took us about 3 1/2-4 months working with our credit card company. It was finally resolved in our favor but took lots of communication with the credit card company.

It mainly depends on who you booked with. I'd say you should be credited within a day or two if you booked directly with the hotel, but I suspect you didn't or doubt that you would have already had to pay anything.

If it was through one of the "discounters" I'd say it could easily be 6 to 8 weeks judging by many posts here about cancellations.

I did book through the hotel and they charge you one night to reserve the room. Thanks for your reply

Call the hotel and ask for the tracking number for the credit. Then provide that tracking number to your bank. Honestly, it should take about the same time to deposit the money back into your account as it did to withdraw it.

Patrick, don't be surprised - I reserved a Vegas hotel 2 weeks ago going mid-February, and they charged my credit card for the first day already. And I'm sure I made the reservation through the hotel's website :) Maybe it's a Vegas tradition!
