Hotel recommendations close to Broadway theaters

We will be visiting NY in about a month and have tickets for evening shows for almost every night we are there. Therefore we would like to stay in a hotel that is within walking distance to the shows we will be attending which are located between 44th and 50th. We are considering the following hotels, The Michelangelo, The Muse, Mariott Marquis, Casablanca and Hilton Times Square. Does anyone have any recommendations or comments about these selections?

Well all are very convenient, Hilton Times Square probably a little less convenient than the others as it involves a little more walking and always through the most crowded part of the area. I do not know Casablanca.
I've stayed at the other three. I've posted about the Muse, the most "hip" of those you've listed. If you can get a larger than standard room it might be fine, I just wasn't crazy about our oddly equipped tiny room -- but liked the hotel. The Michelangelo is quite nice and is a slightly less hectic area than the other two. But my favorite would still probably be the Marriott Marquis. The standard rooms are large with lots of windows and really nice, comfortable rooms. You may get hung up waiting for the elevators, but if you request and get a view room, the wall to wall, floor to ceiling glass view up Broadway is worth it all. I've not stayed at the Renaissance Times Square, which might be another great choice.

We've stayed at the Marriott Marquis several times and really like it. I request a "quiet" room with a Hudson River view and really like it, but the Times Square views are very exciting, but a bit noisier. It seems some people have had problems with the elevators, but we never have. I think there're really fun--part of the experience.

One word of advise about visiting in April--you can get any kind of weather. One time we were there and had a big snow storm and I only had "dressy" boots.

Have a great time. (The Picasso/Matisse show is supposed to be terrific.)

Interesting about the noise facing Times Square, but I've never noticed that -- maybe because we are usuall high up. All the windows are sealed and heavy so we never hear a thing, but maybe you would on a floor closer to the ground. In fact, once I woke up to sort of flashing lights coming through the edges of the draperies. When I got up to see what was going on, there were fleets of fire trucks out in the street for some reason. I'm sure there were sirens then or certainly when they were arriving, but I actually couldn't hear them at all.

Bid on Priceline for Midtown West and you will be near the theaters and possibly save yourself a bundle of money.
