hotel recommendations
My family of 4 is planning a trip to D.C. in early April. We need to decide where to stay. In DC or out in one of the suburbs? Have frequent-stay rewards to redeem at Holiday Inn or Marriott but that is not a priority if you have suggestion that includes convenience and value.
Thx in advance for your ideas! |
You'll get lots of ideas from past threads -- just select "Wsahington, DC" as a topic above.

er, sorry, "Washington, D.C."!

If you have small kids, stay in the city so you can rest midday. If you have older kids, you could look for a suburban hotel close to a metro stop.
We chose a suburban hotel (Silver Spring, MD Hilton) close to a metro stop and had a wonderful trip. Taking public transportation is part of the fun for us, so we didn't mind the commute at all. We weren't looking for nightlife, so we enjoyed returning to the hotel and just relaxing in the pool after busy days of sightseeing. Hope you have a nice trip. |
The Holiday Inn on Rhode Island ave is a good one and convenient to everything.

There is a nice Holiday Inn in Chevy Chase, MD that is just a short walk from the Friendship Heights Metro station. It's fairly convenient to downtown both by metro and car (although I would rec'mend metro--traffic and PARKING are terrible, especially at rush hour) and there are restaurants and shops close if you so desire.

One other thing--if you have any small girl child, there is a cute toy and dollhouse museum nearby (although probably not worth a special trip if you are not staying close by)
