Hotel Recommendation needed- DC area

Message: Hi -

I am looking for hotel recommendations in the DC/Georgetown area. Possibly a boutique hotel? Or something with a modern feel? Also preferably something not too expensive.

Thanks!

The Kimpton Group has a number of hotels that might work. Madera, Helix, Rouge all in the DuPont Circle area would seem to fit your bill.

The Jurys Normandy is a reasonably priced option right on DuPont Circle, a terrific DC neighborhood (and Metro stop!!).

The four places suggested above are all good for what you are asking for - especially Hotel Madera. Jury's Normandy is also great, but a little larger than what I would consider to be in the boutique category. Yet another option is Hotel George - one block from Union Station.

The Georgetown Inn fits your description.

Is the Georgetown Inn modern???

I think Gtown is a bad place to stay if you are coming to DC. It's not close to transportation, the commercial strip is nothing unusual, the restaurants overpriced.

I don't consider the Georgetown Inn to be modern, but I would call it a boutique hotel, which is one of they types of hotels that the original poster asked about. I also note that you don't like the Georgetown area too much. From the crowds I've seen, I think a lot of people disagree with you.

I agree with Mike T...the Kimpton properties sound like the way to go. I have stayed at Topaz right in the DuPont area, most recently last month.

If you do a cost search for Topaz on websites like hotelsearch.com, expedia, or orbitz, and find something worth booking - the hotel itself will match the price and then upgrade you upon check-in.

We are looking forward to staying in another Kimpton property soon...the DC ones all look very nice.
